yes, it is true thank God he went down otherwise LSU would’ve lost but we still managed to win. so get the frick over it. It’s like you almost want LSU to lose just so you can float over it.
Wanting LSU to lose and being happy LSU won while still recognizing we got some breaks aren't the same thing.

The posters in here denying Sellers going down had a negative impact on USCe are the ones you should be scolding. They're absolutely delusional.

Did it help?

Of course. Virtually all injuries to one team help the other team.

Did Hilton, Weeks, Guillory and Emory being hurt help South Carolina? Yes.

But whether a specific injury changes the outcome is hard to know.

Saying LSU won because of Sellers’ injury is different than saying it had a negative impact on USC.

You are conflating two different arguments.

Equal runners, Sellers is about a 5 passer and Ashford is a 2.

Sellers injured helped.

But #5 being a dumbass was the biggest reason- the Nuss push on the P6 and the offsides last drive

We've lost Emery & Guillory for the year.... too bad for them.

You may not be aware, but there is football analysis that goes beyond the outcome of the play.

No shite. When Sellers left the game, the threat of them throwing the ball was completely gone. That helps LSU in a major way.

Good for them. It still counts. But to assume those are repeatable for the whole game is probably an incorrect assumption.

To assume that the LSU defense is going to play the same against a QB that is not a threat to throw the ball vs a QB that is is probably incorrect.

Not sure what you are arguing for or against.

I never said the injury didn’t change anything.

I’m just saying Sellers isn’t very good and that the idea that LSU won because he got hurt isn’t rooted in any statistical analysis.

If that’s your opinion, then fine. Nothing wrong with opinions.

Ashford is garbage. Sellers gave you more of a RPO. Not that Sellers is a great passer either, but there’s a reason he was the starter. LSU gets best of Sellers was healthy.

LSU had already started their comeback well before Sellers got injured. In fact, Sellers’ own mistakes (interception in the end zone and a fumble) were big reasons for that. The momentum had already begun to swing in our favor. Maybe we don’t complete the comeback. But I don’t think it’s do certain that we don’t.

Just terrible luck. It could have happened to anyone.

But there is. They scored 24 points with him and 9 points without him. That’s the most important stat you can have.

Like the other poster said I’m not saying sellers was anything fantastic.

Sellers was a 5 and Ashford was a 2.

And we barely squeaked out a win against the 2.

Sellers may not have lit anything up, but he definitely would’ve been good enough to keep the comeback from being successful.

That’s not how football works, bro (or ma’am, not sure now)

LSU was starting to get to Sellers, he was getting hit a lot and making mistakes.

LSU was only down 8 at the half and getting the ball.

Exactly. We had figured him out. Him being out took away their threat to pass. I won’t argue that. But it also took away our ability to continue getting sacks, strip sack fumbles, hitting him while he was throwing or just being in his face and forcing interceptions. I think we get a couple more turnovers in the 2nd half with a healthy Sellers and probably win more easily.

And you can’t just discount the fact that he got hurt because we were all over his arse in the 2nd quarter. We kept hitting him and hitting him until he finally got hurt. That’s more on us making plays than them getting bad luck with the injury. It wasn’t some freak deal. We CAUSED the injury.

It’d be one thing if we took a cheap shot and targeted him to the head and knocked him out. But he got hurt because we were getting after his arse and consistently popping him.

This is highly debatable and speculative.

24 pts with Sellers, 9 pts with Ashford

Ashford didn’t get the benefit of a blocked punt. Let’s do 1st quarter vs 2nd quarter — that was same QB.

quote:

Ashford threw the ball 4 times

They also ran for a billion yards.
And Sellers’ biggest play was a long read run.

I honestly just don’t see it. You can point to the missed field goal as time expires or two boneheaded penalties on Kennard.

Those are SURE THINGS if they don’t happen we lose. Sellers vs Ashford is very much debatable. Sellers is better but not by much, at least not right now.
