He said you limit your options when you spread it out. He said that the biggest plays come off of play action and that's why we go max protect - because we feel that play action is the best. Said that's what they do in the NFL.

I'm sure this has been said many times, but this is why you don't have a 90 year old on your staff.

He might become one hell of a receiver in the NFL! Excellent hands/good instincts

They love the quick slant passes and bubble screens that gets the ball out of Tom's hand quickly. It wears down a defensive rush and chips away at yardage.

Then it sets up their delayed hand-offs when the defense is expecting the quick pass.

Then that sets up their play action.

Its beautifully simple.

Exactly right. And nothing helps the O-line more than a scheme that gets rid of the pass in 2.5 seconds or less. That constant 4 second shite is stupid, unless you have a line full of top NFL prospects. Even then, 2.5 seconds is a better option.

Actually the NFL is starting to shift towards offenses more like these guys.

The Leach ripple can be felt everywhere (e.g. Kingsbury).

That's my point. The NFL is trying to incorporate newer concepts. Just because something is "NFL" doesn't mean it represents the best plan for our attack.

he's referring to Bama. You know, the team that shut us out.

for reference, Bama shut out *2 teams last year:

MSU
LSU

Arkansas, who finished 0-8 in conference and 2-10 overall, scored 31.

The point is that no matter how much these old heads know, it doesn't take being a coaching lifer to understand that with the skill position athletes LSU has, we should be spreading it out more often.

And we did in the bowl game, for some reason. Hopefully that carries over.

edited some mistakes*

And this should tell you all you need to know about why LSU continues to struggle on the offensive side of the ball.

You ignore all of the other freshman wr who didn’t produce much in year one. And focus on the couple who did have success. True freshman WR in general don’t produce much. If they do it’s an outlier.

Is it any wonder that Ensminger has been at LSU since 2010 and the same issues with scheme continue to come up? It's like hiring the iceberg to save the Titanic.

I’m sure that’s what the NFL did back in the 70s when he was a young coach full of new ideas

Matt Flynn has said the same shite over and over. Quick passes and check downs is the best way to protect the QB and tire out a rush, not max protect.

Yeah the refs are why we have scored 10 points in 3 years against Bama. That’s it

Actually he said that the Rams use this philosophy with Gurley, you know the team they studied in the offseason, but please, continue bashing a retired guy for no reason.

1. I think this is bullshite

2. If true, the Rams might get away with with TODD GURLEY.

3. Did we have a Todd Gurley caliber back on the roster? I can’t remember

Hey what's wrong with that? It's what we did when we had Y.A. Tittle and Jimmy Taylor. It worked then.

So it's wrong of me to point out that LSU had the best WR recruiting haul last year, but other team's freshman WR were able to out perform our stud freshman and every other WR on the team? Come on now.

Maybe just maybe Bama had their heads up their arse when they played Arkansas and Tenn too for that matter.

They shut out two Teams, held a high powered OM to 7. They didn't play Vandy or Mercer.

You are all over the place

The same could be said for Les Miles or Cam Cameron or any number of past coaches that have been the topic of heated debates on here. The truth is, this place would be a ghost town if you had to know more football than the coaches to give your opinion on how the offense/defense/team should be run.
