Huey was involved in every detail of LSU athletics. He)) he gave locker room speeches to the team and co-wrote Touchdown For LSU!!! So yeah there is a precedent for it even though that was 80 something to 90 years ago.

But he wasn't "involved"... You really telling me if you had access and an interest you WOULDN'T reach out to the people in the know to see what the hell was going on?

He's a big LSU Hoops fan, and those texts just show he was curious.

It's not like he said "Hey yeah King you should play the guy"

There are reasons to not like JBE, this ain't one of them

If you really think that was all that was then bless your heart...

If Huey was around Saban would not have left the state alive. There would be some cold bodies sunk deep in the mud of the bayou. Huey was the America South's man of steel and demagogue of his time...

kind like this guy was at the same history half way around the world..

I'm curious if you actually believe that the Governor of a US state anonymously posts on an underground message board about college athletics or if that was a joke.

We were both at a family member's wedding during all of this, and talked about the aleva situation.

It was clear from the massive negative views of aleva and alexander that he definitely reads this as well as the dead pelican. A lot.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if he posted.

If I was governor I'd be Huey Long balls deep into LSU.

They say Huey was the first to shout STTDB at a University official.

No fricking shite he’s involved. And no surprise Williams sounded like he was running the show. Alleva sucks but he was clearly the fall guy.

JBE needs to stay the frick out of LSU athletics.

He actually didn't seem too involved in any of the decisions. He was just fishing for info.

Agree.

The governor is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too involved with the running of LSU's athletic department.

How do you think we ended up the Ed Orgeron as the head football coach? I'm sure Alleva was told to hire him, so no search was necessary.

I wonder if crook to crook text messages count against monthly quotas? Governor Honor Code. Uh huh.

That ought to be done off the record by the Governor
Go meet in person with the BOS chairman and get a verbal update instead of leaving any kind of trail.

Sending a text seems way more efficient if he’s going to do it anyway It’s not like this is illegal or something

It would be interesting to see what a records request revealed during the late November 2016, early October 2017, and late November 2017 time frames as it relates to head coach searches and offensive coordinator issues.

As others have pointed out, regardless whether you agree with it, we have a long history of LA governors (Huey, McKeithen) getting "too involved" in LSU athletics. Especially football (eg, recruiting, play-calling, etc).

“ it sounds like he was just curious”

It sounds like he was way more than just a little curious. If he expressed this type of interest in text messages, which most people know can often become available to the public in certain situations, one can only wonder what input he provided in telephone conversations and face-to-face meetings.

What's illegal is how much seems to be redacted.

JBE has no business being that involved and is dumb enough to leave a trail like that.
