It sounds like he was way more than just a little curious. If he expressed this type of interest in text messages, which most people know can often become available to the public in certain situations, one can only wonder what input he provided in telephone conversations and face-to-face meetings.

This sounds like you are on a witch hunt. There is zero evidence of anything other than JBE being interested in what was happening.

Not one of those texts contain JBE giving an opinion on what should happen. The biggest opinion he gave was after the fact when he said he agreed with the move to suspend Wade.

Those texts also don’t contain anything that would suggest that a further conversation with Williams occurred.

If JBE was really involved do you think he would have to blindly ask what’s happening? If he were involved, he would already know.

I’m not a JBE fan but this is really grasping at straws.

Did we all read the same thing? WTF

JBE was far from "all up in" LSU affairs. Seemed like he was just curious as a fan with access. If any of you tards had access like he did, you would use your connections as well.

That’s how I read it too. He seemed like a fan with sauces just asking questions. Same as any of us would do, we just don’t have his kind of access.

This board just hates JBE.

EVERY governor does this in Louisiana. It was Gov Murphy Foster that told Mark Emmert to hire Nick Saban as head football coach, and that he'd have the support of the LSU BOS. It was under Jindal that LSU hired King Alexander and Joe Alleva, through Jindal's appointees to the LSU BOS. Never forget the LSU BOS will never be against the wishes of the sitting governor, or they know they will be replaced when their term is up.

Note: It wasn't until JBE's appointees controlled the BOS, that a change in the AD happened.

JBE is Tiger Ree.

Well I know for a fact it’s not Ponamsky. I watched him like a hawk on one of the Tiger Tour stops and he never had his phone out. Other people that were there did though and I’ve got a pretty good idea who it is. Tiger Ree was posting pictures from the stop to TD the whole time. I’ve got it narrowed down to 3 people.

Pretty sure JBE is a poster here and wanted to brag about his sauces!

Its good that a Governor is engaging with the flagship university in the state. But in no way should a governor be this deeply involved with what is going on.

Probably true, but it's been going on since Huey Long. He even wrote music that the GBFTL played.

Louisiana going to Louisiana.

Why are so many of you surprised that JBE is heavily involved?

None of this will change with the new AD.

The governor is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too involved with the running of LSU's athletic department.

He didn't seem "involved" at all - just seemed curious to me.

Hello?/? That's some bullshite!

He didn't "seem to get involved" only because the decision was going the way he wanted. Had the BOS said they would suspend Smart for the duration, like they did with Wade, JBE would have been all up in that!

Notice how he said suspending Wade was the "right decision"? JBE didn't get involved there either, because he agreed with it.

We cannot get rid of him fast enough. Vote early. Vote often!

He was not “involved” in any way. There were no directives in any of those texts. Stop trying to shoehorn your political POV into LSU basketball—it’s been interesting enough without all that.

Frankly, even submitting public information requests to find out that JBE was curious about whether Smart could play against UF is a tremendous waste of time. I mean, I’m entertained to know that the governor is a fan, but there’s very little, if any, actual content.

Plus it's good to have inside information prior to placing those bets.

Be interesting to know if John Bel is a betting man.

“Those texts also don’t contain anything that would that would suggest a further conversation with Williams occurred.”

You mean other than Williams saying call me.

I find it a little perplexing that the governor of the state would want to be texting this much about the eligibility of one of many College basketball players with in his state. It’s not like he has no history of involving himself in LSU matters.

None of what I see is wrong, but it is a little odd given the fact that is the governor of the state . imo
