If he can go 2-3 good innings I’d be happy. Honestly just happy we’re getting Coleman back in action above anythint, I’m sure there’s gonna be some rust

I'd be very happy with 1 good inning.

Very excited to see him come back. Could be a huge boost to a depleted staff

LFG!!!

Figure he will probably only get 1 inning tonight unless he gets out of the first with something like 9 pitches but just getting him out there would be a big step.

That's a good idea to start him rather than bring him out of the pen. In this way he gets certainty about the time of his first pitch, and he can go through an exact preparation.

Wow. I'm tempering my expectations for how he is going to throw tonight, but he could be an obvious boost for the back half of the season.

He was called up in the Pen a few times this past weekend and from what I hear was throwing bullets.

1 innings tonight with the goal being finding command of a few of his pitches in a game situation. Maybe fastball and one offspeed pitch. If he’s hitting his spots maybe throw in a 3rd pitch. See what he has available to him in the event that you need him this weekend.

See how he addresses righties and lefties.

Unless his pitch count is crazy low I can't imagine more than 3 innings.

My guess would be 20-30 pitches and then give him the weekend off. Bring him back next Tuesday for another 20-30 and if all goes well use him for an inning next weekend

Yes!

My goals for coleman tonight;
Avoid re-injury
Throw some strikes
Hit 90-92mph a few times

I dont care about the result

I'm pumped for the dude. I pray and i pray it goes better than the Eric Walker story. He seems like such a good kid.

This is the most realistic expectation to have for him. If everything goes smooth as far as comfort in the arm and then recovery that is a huge plus.

90-92 would be nice to see. If we see 20 pitches and 10 of them are strikes and he gets through 1 inning then I'm pumped about that.

If he throws 20 pitches and 6 are strikes and results wise he struggles, but the recovery goes smooth and he is hitting 92-94 that is still a win.

Bingo

LSU doesn't need him to be lights out tonight. They need him to contribute in the postseason, even if it's just getting a left bat out in a tight spot. Tonight is the first step in that process.

I think some people are overestimating his potential impact on the 2023 team.

Probably a 30 pitch count limit

He basically can’t reinjure the elbow unless the surgery was botched. The rehab process focuses almost solely on the shoulder and regaining strength and agility to that area of the body. Legs and core obviously need to get back up to speed too but they’re not the main concern.

I'm more concerned on the recovery and soreness and how long it will take. That is usually worked out a little earlier in the process probably through the bullpens he has been throwing. Hopefully you hear that he is feeling good after and no extra soreness than what he has been dealing with in the process.
