Javen Coleman is the starting pitcher for tonight’s game against the Cajuns #LSU

Welcome back JC. Work your pitches and be fearless in the zone.
I would imagine he will be on a 1-2 IP limit. Would love to see him have a quick 1st so he can sit, and come back out to get the 2d.
Big part of this will hopefully be him telling CJJ tomorrow he feels 'GREAT' after throwing.

I don’t want to be too dramatic but let me be too dramatic. If he can come in and show flashes of awesomeness for one or two innings, this can take an already number one team to another level.

I'm not sure we see an up and down from him in his first appearance off the surgery. I would imagine 1 inning and then evaluate the recovery process.

Reason they have him starting is most likely to be on his own timing to prepare pregame with bullpen and also start fresh with no in game stress to have to worry about.

We get him and Ack back to go along with Herring and Cooper, and all of a sudden we have some solid lefty’s coming out for relief

LSU has the arms they just need some of these guys to find their control. If that happens then they would be in an excellent spot.

Bryce Collins performance was incredibly encouraging last weekend...hopefully it becomes contagious

We need Auckenhausen back.

Before his injury he was absolutely one of our best pitchers and he was a guy who could go 3 innings.

We’re getting into the easier portion of our schedule so hopefully we don’t need to rush him back but we absolutely need him.

Coleman being able to make a meaningful contribution would be huuuuuge.

If he gets out of the 1st inning under 20 pitches I will be elated. Probably a 30 pitch count tonight

Coleman warmed up in the pen late on both Friday and Saturday. I never saw him get super "hot", but the fact he threw 2 days in a row and is now getting the start on just 2 rest days is encouraging relative to recovery.

If by the end of the year Coleman can give us 3-4 solid innings a weekend I will be fricking ecstatic. That completely changes our pitching staff and is not something I would've expected given his injury timeline.

Yeah...with Shores and Edwards going down you basically lost somewhere around 4-6 innings per weekend from your staff.

Coleman can help fill that void.

This is great news.

I expect there to be some rust but gotta start back some time.

Here's a link to the box score where he pitched in late '21.

LSU-Oregon 2021 Regional

He also pitched vs UTenn in the Super Regional. Gave up 3Rs in 3IP but K'd 5.

Part of me wants his first pitch to be crushed 450' and watch this board go nuclear.

That’s actually just the douche you forgot to remove.

Kill that part if you can.

An efficient inning as about 10-12 pitches.

Um no - LSU has had exactly 14 half-innings of less than 12 pitches thus far this year. Sans Skenes, they’ve been averaging just under 17 pitches per, and that number approaches 20 in SEC play. Couple that with Coleman not having been in live game situations for nearly 14 months, 2-3 innings ain’t happening.

I’d imagine they’re gonna warm him up, let him go live for one inning, then shut it down. This is 100pct about conditioning the rest of his body for what lies ahead, not just his left elbow. His body’s reaction tomorrow and Thursday is what they’re monitoring. THAT’S what is going to determine his progress moving towards postseason.

It’s been 14 months. It’s not coming back overnight.

I wonder if we will start to look at tonight as the start of when our pitching after Skenes started to turn it around?

Little made baby steps on Sunday....still need Hurd to get his shite together although I'm not sure he'll be getting many more weekend opportunities to do it...although on the other hand who the hell else are we gonna use

Really happy for him. Must have been a lot of hard work to get back into form.
