Yes I agree so all of sudden this week it dawned on him that bama wins championships? Was he under a rock?

So what did Orgeron do wrong in the recruitment of Surtain? Tell us what he could have possibly done to get a different result.
It’s not that hard to figure out. He loses. He’s lost to Bama 2 straight seasons and doesn't challenge for titles. Surtain said it’s about the w’s and l’s. O got too many of one and not enough of the other.

It’s not only about championships. It’s about your future. As a kid I always wanted to go the NFL. Which school produces more nfl talent then anybody? How many wide receivers we have out there that are making big money. And our DBs. All he had to do was wait his 3-4 years here play in some bowls. Be a top DB in the nation. And be selected in the 1st round in the draft. Nah he wants to win a championship. And may not be able to go high in the draft. That’s on him. Frick him. Corey Raymond has bigger things to worry about. Get these guys to the NFL. Do I want us to win a National championship?Of course. But it’s not always the case. If that was his dream to win championships then stay in high school. But many recruits have dreams bigger then championships. I get we want our program to be at the top. We already are at the top. We have the most NFL friendly college team out there. So let his arse stay there. We good here.

If it was as simple as that he would have been all over Alabama 2 or 3 years ago and not been so ingrained with Corey Raymond and the LSU program. Alabama never really entered the picture until a few weeks ago.
The want to win championships mantra was just a smokescreen There were other factors at play in the decision. This was not simply an impressionable kid being all over the board .
I am not saying Saban and Alabama did anything illegal nor do I disagree a young athlete can sign wherever he chooses. LSU has been both the beneficiary and the loser in these last minute flips. This one is different and the young man was not very convincing that he really wants to go to Alabama.

jantzen 's dad Lance Guidry is now head coach at McNeese where Orgeron's sons are on the team.

How do you know this about Goodrich?

We're talking the greatest coach in all of college football He wasn't waiting around to see if Orgeron was going to beat him on Surtain. Saban had him in the bag, and had his 25 schollys locked down way BEFORE 11PM Don't be that stupid
Alabama has been ranked as a loser class by SI.

If you're a player and have a choice between LSU and Bama right now, and you're not from Louisiana, what school would you choose? Would you play for Nick Saban or Ed Orgeron?

Over this lying POS. Only wishing he becomes the next Tony Brown now.

A couple of points I have taken from all the discussions:
1. The overwhelming majority of posters here blame CEO for screwing up the Surtain recruitment. Show me one recruitng pundit outside of Bama specialists that said PSJ was going not going to LSU. The worst prediction I saw had Surtain at 75% LSU. So something happened late or under the table. He tipped this to almost nobody.
2. The warning sign the staff should have seen is that this kid had 2-3 yrs to commit and he could not even give us a silent commit in the last week. They should have sensed he was not the lock everyone said and put the deadline down in time so they could shop elsewhere.
3. PSJ turned out to be a diva. He could only think of himself and screwed some other kid out his dream for that scholly. LSU will survive but that is stone cold hearted to do that to your classmates. Somebody else had to settle for less because PSJ wanted to have his day.

No doubt had Surtain ever given Corey Raymond or the staff any indication that Alabama was strongly in the mix they would have put even more focus on Goodrich.
These coaches area all experienced recruiters and know how to read the tea leaves. Something happened in the last day or two that changed the equation and it likely involved the father. The young man did not sign where his heart was and gave in to some other pressures.

He could've not taken a position he knows he's not qualified for
