Is Peyton “Pop” Houston the real deal

Just watched CBS segment with him & his father.
Seems like both are impressive people.
Can anyone add context?
Is he a firm Tiger commit? By this I mean will there be no crazy stuff happening next Nov-Dec like Underwood?
Does the Nike NIL deal kinda tie him to LSU?
Seems like he be a great Tiger on & off field

If he was 2-3" taller he'd be a 5-star no question

Yea he can sling it

I agree his sub 6 foot frame is hurting him. He could still grow and inch maybe at 17. Never know. But drew brees was sub 6 foot

he is completely committed and always wanted that LSU offer and to go there. no funny business. Only thing some scouts down him on is his height. He is accurate with great athletic ability to extend plays or use his legs to get first downs to keep drives alive. I think he can really thrive in the Kiffin system. Great kid with no off field worries.

Some big schools didnt even offer because they know they had no shot

There is no more overrated measurable in football than QB height. None.

LSU should retire his number prior to arrival

Bryce Young and Kyler Murray are the only 2 QBs in NFL history to be drafted at Pop's height in the 1st round (just over 5'10), this is the data they go on when rating players because they try to project out to draft position ultimately when they do the rankings, and 5-stars are supposed to be 1st rounders.
What the data shows is it's extremely unlikely he would ever be a 1st rounder, but what the data also shows is 2 QBs in the last 7 draft classes at his height were also drafted in the 1st round, so it's trended up at least

What's his high school number? You know for obvious reasons.

100000% I feel way more confident about his commitment than Lamar Brown's, and I felt VERY strongly about that one

Notheing more overated than picking a QB because they have the measurables and not because they can read a defense. While only 2 QB's not tall drafterd in the 1st round, you can't even count the ones that were drageted because of their measurables that were bust because they coundn'tt read a defense

Matters a lot more in the pros where they can clog up passing lanes and defenses are more nasty and full of dudes. Most college offenses can scheme around their QB's height.
I have zero concern about Houston in Lane's offense

Go look at the history of LK QBs. If he wants him then that’s all you need to know. This boards collective intelligence when it comes to football is less than 1% of kiffin’s on our very best day and his worst.

He is extremely accurate with the ball. He has great zip on it and a quick release. He understands taking what the defense gives, but can put the ball downfield inside of a tight window. Unless he gets injured, he will make Tiger fans extremely happy.
