Seems like lots of dirty money from boosters is being circulated in with the clean money. Hope we can keep up.

As opposed to previously when it was all dirty money?

ETA: just because they had to be smart to get into Notre Dame doesn’t mean Notre Dame didn’t have boosters handing out money.

I kind of doubt he was slinging much money around at ND. Could be wrong, but doesn’t seem like the program or kids/families that support that.

I’ve thought this since he was hired and one of the reasons I didn’t like it. Recruiting corn fed o linemen from the Midwest is a completely different game than SEC recruiting in the Deep South. It’s a dirty, no holds barred fist fight until you get their signature, and now with the portal and NIL, it continues until the players leave your campus.

Will be interesting to see how Kelly adjusts

CBK doesn't have to get dirty. Or any of the staff. In fact that is a layer we need to play dirty and be safe.

TAF, L-Club, indvidual boosters, even Woodward would be the ones playing dirty.

CBK and the staff just need to make sure the ones with the dirty hands have enough info of who to target.

For example: CBK lets Woodward know that WR 1 is in danger of entering portal because Gumps are making overtures. Woodward let's his guy at TAF know. TAF guy contacts booster(s) and says we need X dollars to keep WR 1. Booster(s) form a charity for the Eradication of Thigh Chaffing of Offensive Linemen. The ETCOL charity hires WR 1 at Y dollars (with Y>X) to do a thumbs up poster with his arm around Will Campbell. And then they pay Campbell too.

ETA: worth a note...
Coaching staff's phones are logged by Compliance. Some of admins too. TAF's are not. If you get the right info outside the Compliance system and then to boosters, anything is possible. So if a coach calls a booster and that booster arranges a NIL deal there's a direct line to the school athletics and a NIL deal that our Compliance knows about. If our compliance has it, the NCAA has it. To boot, TAF's job is to specifically raise money and talk to boosters regularly. That's good plausible deniability.

ND had 27 players from the SEC geographic footprint on their roster this season.

This doesn't exist anymore. All money is clean as long as it's not directly from the University.

Last year he pulled a 4* receiver out of Athens GA with offers from Bama, Auburn, Georgia, FSU.

Most of his linemen recruits had offers from Bama, Mich, OSU.

You really think he was “above board”

Get real

Definitely a gray area…doesn’t exactly fit into the name, image, or likeness buckets.

You don't recruit a top 5 class by being "above board"

Dude I knew a guy who played for Yale and HE was getting paid, and you’re wondering about Notre Dame?

CBK has succeeded everywhere he's been. This seems like a ridiculous concern...you either adapt or get left behind. He doesn't seem like he's ever been left behind. I'd expect big changes over the next year.

Brian Kelly and LSU have no control over NIL. His opinions about NIL have no bearing over what third-party entities are willing to pay the players

Hopefully Brian gets someone in the building to restructure the way LSU is handling NIL

Get someone other than Cody Worsham as the point man for NIL at LSU
