Not gonna lie..I wanted Riley, and part of me still does. That being said the more I've thought about I think having an adult in the room is the best thing for our program right now....Kelly gives us that in the best way

The HC that ran into the SEC ready to build a program back to glory.... not the one that ran away from the SEC.

Riley lucked out drafting good QBs and claiming another.
The current crop and the failure of Rattler gives ample evidence that Riley is not making the QBs. They made him. His current record at Ok is proof.
The same can be said of Sweeney.

Rattler is probably his only miss. He landed Williams who was the top recruit and playing great as a true freshman.

Kelly

I wanted Aranda over Riley. Riley's offenses are good and don't get me wrong I'd have been excited for him too, but Aranda I always felt had a better grasp of the game as a whole. Too many times I've seen Riley's defenses get shredded, he's a one side of the ball kind of coach. Kelly fits the mold of Aranda, I just never thought he was even on the table during the search, but I was immediately pumped when the news broke. Kelly has had both great offenses and great defenses and finds an identity that best suits his personnel. I much prefer those kind of coaches than the ones that try to force a particular style like Riley.

Are we wanting a QB developer or a Championship team.
What was Oklahoma's record prior to Riley?
Has Oklahoma improved or declined under Riley?
Which team still has a chance this season at a playoff berth?

Riley has proven nothing.

Riley is mentally soft and not what LSU needed. Kelly is what LSU needs right now. We will get the trench's fortified with Kelly.

"Future NFL QBS are signing up to play for Riley."
Rattler?

"They haven’t signed up to play for Kelly for sure. How many Notre dame NFL QBS have we seen in the last decade?"
Kizer Browns, Book Saints, Clausen Panthers, Quinn Browns.
How many has Saban produced? You are overrating QBs when they only perform as well as the offense protects them.

"There is no comparison in QB play under the 2 coaches."

Riley 55-10
Kelly 113-40
QBs only play for colleges they can qualify at. The bottom line for coaches is their wins and losses because you are not hiring a quarterback.

Riley and Kelly are almost the inverse of one another. Kelly's ND program was championship level in most every area except for QB play and the passing game. Riley's OU teams had exceptional QB and WR play, but weren't ever close on defense. The concern with Kelly is that ND sucked in the area of the game that he was probably the most involved with, whereas Riley's OU teams were best in the area Riley was most involved with. I think that would lead me to believe Riley is more likely to eventually put all the pieces together than is Kelly.

Never been a fan of Riley. Love Kelly and the success he’s been able to achieve facing serious headwinds. It’s why he’s here.

Knowing what I know now? We got the right one. I don't want a vagina coach that's afraid of this conference. I want one that says "we respect you, but we are LSU!"

Before he ran from the SEC, I'd have said Riley. Give me the proven program builder that wants all the smoke.

It may just be my optimism, but I really so think Kelly is the better hire.

Honestly I think Kelly is the better fit for LSU. Feels like at some point Riley going to bolt for the NFL. Riley wanted to live the celeb life. Wasn’t going to happen in Baton Rouge
