Of those 4 I think LSU wins 2019 for sure, 2003 and 2007 are questionable. 2011 unfortunately were not beating Bama.
I’d add 2006 we’d have a real shot

Just state that a 12 team playoff starts in 2000 and see then. We would have made it more times like 2010, also 2005 and 2006.
We take 2001 as well...
Noone wanted to go against that team at the end of the year.

03-beats USC in finals
06-beats Florida in finals
07-chokes somewhere along the way
11-still loses to Bama in finals
19-beats Ohio St in closer game in finals

No one loves Ro to Reed more than me, but 2001 Miami would have beaten that team 9/10 and I have no trouble admitting that

You need to include 2001 and 2006
I think 2006 wins and 2001 gets WAY closer than most would think.

2003: I still think LSU takes it, but the matchup should have been against USC in the Sugar Bowl and not OU.
2007: interesting, as this season was heavily impacted by injuries. The defense was beat up, but with time to recover in December, I think they could beat UGa. If we played them in Atlanta instead of Tennessee, there would be some concern.
2011: Depends on what happened to Alabama. I was not in favor of the rematch, and the result showed why. LSU was beating anybody else, maybe even comfortably.
2019: nobody was stopping Burrow and Co.
The other close calls:
2005: it was incredible that the Tigers survived the West in a difficult season regarding Katrina. They ran out of gas at the end, and recharged to crush Miami. But nobody was beating Texas. That ‘05 UT team is one of the best post-00.
2006: I’m convinced the refs screwed us in Auburn (obvious) and Florida. They called Hester short on a touchdown and Jamarcus fumbled on the next play. A rematch against the Gators in Arizona might have gone our way. That said, Florida wrecked Ohio State, so I can’t take that away from them.
2010: Kind of overlooked, but they blew their chance at bigger things when they couldn’t stop Arkansas. Can’t discredit Cam’s superhuman abilities that year either.
2012: Lots of LSU fans seem to think this is the one that got away. I’m not as high on this bunch, maybe because they couldn’t close out Clemson and essentially helped jumpstart that program. They also shite the bed offensively in the Swamp, and had a golden opportunity against Bama. LSU essentially controlled their own destiny by the way they dropped those games.

2003 & 2019 would still win.
2005 & 2006 would have had a very good chance to win it.
2007 would win a 12 team playoff, but not if it was 24.
2001 would have made it to the championship game.

I think we would have won in '06

LSU also would’ve been in the playoffs 2005, 2006, 2010, 2012, & 2018
LSU was the best team in the country at the end of 2006.

Why leave out ‘06?
By the time we demolished ND in the Sugar Bowl, we were playing as good or better than anyone in the country
That team could have won in a payoff scenario

Good, fair break down. 1 thing to also consider is where the games would have been played, in 2003 if we play USC in the Dome I think we beat them but if we had to play them in Pasadena?
2001 is an interesting one. They were obviously hot down the stretch they could have gone deep, maybe to the final (depending on how the seeding fell) but no one was beating the U that year.
2012 i wouldn’t sell short im don’t think they cared about the Bowl tbh.

2001 team may have had a better shot than any of the ones after 2003, though. That team was rolling at the end of the year and through the SECCG when they stomped No 1 Tennessee.
Tennessee was number 2, I really don’t think anyone was beating Miami who was #1

A 2010 LSU at 10-2, and 2012 LSU at 10-2 get in as well. The 2012 team would’ve had a shot to do some damage.

2001,03,05,06,07,11,19,all would have the team to win playoff games if there were a 12 team playoffs.I think 3or 4 of them could have won in that senecio. The 11 team lost to the only team that could have beat them,Les just didn’t give his team a chance.

2006 was one of the best teams that decade. They just didn’t get the breaks.
