CPM is a darn good baseball coach.

We went into that regional with an entire staff of starters on the roster but hurt—Walker, Hilliard, Labas, and Storz.

We had only three starters on the field that started last year.

CPM somehow managed to finish second in both the SEC tournament and the Corvallis regional.

It was a remarkable effort and a remarkable group of players that stepped up and competed with the best teams in the country.

Yeah, no. He is to blame for fatigued pitchers and poor planning on the roster.

He is a good coach, but ultimately, he is responsible.

Injuries happen to every team, unfortunately our injuries this year impacted important players on the mound. Its hard to blame them for that. The coaches did everything they could to ensure these players get healthy. I don't blame him on that front, its sports for you. This happens at other schools besides LSU too.

But I do blame him for the hitting situation and lack of talent/depth at certain positions, thats all on him.

It was a rough year but of all coaches on campus PM deserve the benefit of the doubt to turn this all around. I do think major shake ups are needed at the plate. We need better catching next season as well.

Now if next season is more of the same then he deserves all he gets. PM has admitted to being asleep at the wheel before in the past. Hopefully we aren't hit hard by the draft and add some key pieces for next season

You Pump Lump MA freaks are a special breed of spooky nutty all unto yourselves.

Yes, very remarkable indeed.

14-1 and 12-0 loses to end the season sets new remarkably dysfunctional and negligent standards.

Most everybody is , but that gross and disgusting little clique of cheerleading worshippers, idolizers and excuse makers are full bore at it right now doing what they do. (Defending and honoring rank mediocrity at its finest)

Went from a out of the tournament to a two seed in a few days by beating 2 top 10 and one top 25 teams, to get this team where it ended up was fantastic coaching. Happened to run into the number 3 overall team that has a chip on its shoulder from being ousted by LSU last year after arguably the best NCAA baseball season ever, and also being the number one overall seed as well....so we got housed by them....I mean it's not like I was surprised. I wouldn't trade PM for anyone else. If the finals last year wasn't a loss and we picked up the next championship it's a totally different story. But you can't always win everytime especially in today's game. We'll be back to LSU standards as early as next season.

Lots of good players coming in and many return. It's a bold statement to say unranked from wire to wire. Pretty foolish. They will probably be ranked in the preseason for God's sake. Especially with five publications that rank teams....

I really don’t get the optimism for next year. This team lacks talent and stands to lose most of the few good players we have.

Well CPM is responsible for all the fatigue on the pitching staff. How do we continue to not have our best pitchers available for the tournament?
Who is responsible?

As a matter of fact how does LSU not have a deeper pitching staff? ALMOST EVERY TEAM WE PLAY has a couple of solid pitchers. Why can't a program like LSU recruit pitchers who can pitch? We need more than 1 or 2. It is ridiculous.

Think about who’s on this staff. You’re retarded.

There's no doubt that he is one of the premier coaches in the college game.
I am not so sure about his choice of assistants. You should surround yourself with the best not novices.
Further, the roster problems are his. LSU teams used to look more physically comparable to a MLB team. Other teams we face appear to have bigger, stronger rosters than us.
We didn't have an "Ace" on the mound this year. Mainieri has had at least one of those guys almost every year. I don't know who we have as a candidate for a dominating pitcher next year.
The margin for error is small with the parity in college baseball.

Last years staff had Lange, Poche, Walker, Gilbert, and Hess. It’s unfortunate, but we got beat by the only team in the country with a deeper staff.

We lost our entire rotation from last year, and it just so happened that Gilbert went to shite and the transition from closer to starter for Hess never panned out. Think about that.....our top 5 arms from the previous year were either gone, unavailable, or regressed. No team is going to be able to overcome that.

Parity? WTF does that mean? Every sport has the same ncaa rules and regulations for all teams. Always has had.

LSU has one of the finest facilities in college baseball and a history which can be matched by 2 or 3 other programs.

LSU has led the nation in attendance for approx. 20 years. Lsu is one of the few baseball programs which actually makes a profit on baseball and that is with a million dollar coach.

With LSU's advantages we shouldn't be on a roller coaster ride every damn year. LSU should have competant pitchers and players who can hit the damn ball. We have too damn many pitchers who are simply taking up a roster spot and can't fricking pitch. There are no reasons for much of this crap and ineptitude.

Walker is an ACE. Many weekends last year, he out pitched Lange and Poche. Injured.

Nick Storz was highly expectant to be an ACE. Injured.

Give us those two at top strength, and this could have been a very different year. Getting Walker back next year will absolutely give our pitching staff the kick in the right direction.

Baseball is headed in the same direction as Miles in his last 5 seasons.
