If I am being honest - and downvote all you want, but we over performed last year. With what we had, there was no reason for us to win the West.

With that being said, the bar was set as "SECCG" or bust, and that is a fair metric, but not when you inherit a dumpster fire.

Kelly has always been honest that next year is our best chance.

If Oklahoma loses the B12CG (and next year's playoff rules were in effect), LSU would be in. Sounds like we're in the top tier going forward already.

I think this point helps what I’m saying as well. Win 10 regular season games every year and we’ll almost always be in the playoff. 9 is a total crapshoot.

Missouri and Ole Miss are getting attaboys for winning 10 regular season games The standard at LSU is higher than that

While I agree, context is important. After 2019, LSU went 10-12 over the next 2 seasons and had 39 players when Kelly took over.

Given the situation, back to back 10 win seasons with an SECCG appearance is pretty darn good.

How many 10-win seasons does LSU have in its history?

My quick count is 14, which is the number after those wins during the Miles era were vacated. I think 17 with those wins intact. So, that’s 14 (17) out of 130-ish season, with the potential for 15 (or 18).

How exactly is 10 wins the bar? It’s definitely the bar on recent history, but it’s something special all together.

There has definitely been some moving goalposts here with posters setting the expectation at 9 wins next year.

It really isn’t. 11-1 could leave you out of the SECCG

In the past 10 seasons, we've only had 3 with 10+ wins. It'll be 4/10 if we win the bowl game.

Winning 10+ games every year is not as automatic as some of you think. The fact that Brian Kelly may get there in both of his first two seasons is a good thing.

Preach brother.

The bar is lowered with Brian Kelly because he can talk the talk.

But as he’s proven throughout his career he can’t win a big game

We shouldn't move that bar. First year was a great start for BK, but we went backwards as a program this year due to this defense even with a generational talent at QB. Record could be the same, but this defense and where we are with recruiting on defense is a huge step back from year 1. He and the LSU media keep chirping about "possibly having back to back 10 win seasons" and for some reason that bothers me. I feel like it is their way of moving the goalposts. I know, Dear Facebook.

I would like to see 10 win regular seasons be RE-ESTABLISHED as the standard here, but let’s just all be fricking honest- the program hasn’t been there consistently for a long while now.

We had 8 10+ win seasons from 2003 to 2013. We’ve had only 3 in the 10 years since. Two coaches were fired over this. Ranting about a “standard” that hasn’t held in a decade is just kind of ridiculous.

I personally say that 2019 team was 15-0. I count all wins ( regular and post).

Therefore, 10-3 is consistent. If you want to whine that it SHOULD be 11-2 because Ole Miss game was a bad loss, I can understand. But, to act as if ALL games are not to be counted seems odd.

Your lord and savior only managed to uphold this regular season standard one time in six seasons. Not very impressive.

ETA- Downvote away, bitch. We all know you can’t/won’t comment

There are about 100 teams across the country who wish they could have won 10 games

You seem spoiled, selfish, and entitled. Come across as a guy who wouldn’t even watch LSU if it were a, say 5-7 type of season.

In the past 20 years (since 2003), and not counting 2020 because of the shortened regular season, we've had 8 not counting bowls (someone check my math).

So 9/19. And that includes some realllllly shitty years.

Saying 10 win season counting the bowl game is something Ed Orgeron's hype machine would do.
