Saw him hit a monster HR against UGA in Athens. Great fastball hitter but couldn't hit a breaking ball to save his life.

Hot take

Mouton and Gary Hymel were a much better college baseball 1-2 punch than Clark and Palmero

I miss the live balls in the 90s. There were some monster shots

Was about to say CPM threw tons of players under the bus.
It's a practice I always applauded. As starter for LSU Baseball you had plenty other offers to play for coaches and colleges that woulda kissed your arse for 4 years but chose to come here to win championships. And with that opportunity comes pressure and accountability. Now whether a loss was CPM's fault many of these times is another debate.

Skip was blunt as well. I bet he said a few things over the years that rubbed a few players the wrong way. But it was to make them better and the team better.

He laughed his arse off when me and my cousin did the baseball bat spin around home plate during a Nashville Sounds game in 1995ish. We had been drinking many beers and had our LSU hats on.
We barely made it around the bases .He was cheering to the fans LSU LSU LSU!

Lyle was very intelligent and well respected by his peers. He was the MLB player representative for the White Sox to negotiate the players best interest.

He hit a ball at the old park in Omaha they are still looking for. That was one of the furthest balls I’ve ever seen hit. It was a Pujols off of Lidge type crush.

I was at that game in Omaha in 91. That ball hit the light tower. 30 or 40 feet behind the 420ft cf fence which was 20ft high at old omaha.

I remember both sports for him at LSU, ended up being one of my favorite players. I'm also a white Sox fan and got his autograph after a sox game.

That was it. It was vs UF. I’ve heard that it was estimated at 500’. I believe it. All I know is I lost site of hit when I blinked. It was absolutely crushed.
I was at the Astros Vs Cards game in ‘05vas well. This ball bounced hard back towards the tracks off the glass. [link=(astros vs cards game 5 pujos.crushes lidge.)]LINK[/link]

Also a really friendly guy, he’s happy to talk openly about his days at LSU and in MLB. He tells some great Chris Jackson stories.

Mouton is probably a top 5 to 10 all around athlete in LSU history.

Played MLB and was a solid SEC basketball player. Probably would have been a decent tight end if he would have played football.
