Because of this for Auburn in 2010:
@ MSU W 17-10
v. Clemson W 27-24 OT
v. LSU W 24-17
v. Oregon W 22-19
Auburn didnt have a great defense that year (they got rung up a few times), but when they needed it, the defense delivered some low scoring wins for them.
Meanwhile in 2023 for Daniels here:
v. FSU L 24-45
@ Bama L 28-42
Not once that entire season when our offense slightly struggled (because it never really struggled), the defense took a huge dump. We lost a game 49-55 even.
So long story short, defense matters. Put the 2023 LSU D with 2010 Auburn and they lose at least 4 games

Chizek had a lot more experience as HC than BK and complimented his defense focus with Gus's offense.

You answered your own question perfectly. If 23 LSU even had the 2010 Auburn defense then LSU goes undefeated and we are still arguing whether the 2019 or 2023 LSU team was the best in history right now.

Daniels was far better than Cam. Cam couldn’t run or pass as well. His skills were great in college because of his speed and size combination very much like Tim Tebow. Neither was as fast as Jayden or as accurate passing the ball. LSU s defense was so bad that Jayden couldn’t not overcome it.
