How did Alleva miss so bad on Tony Bennett?

It’s pretty unbelievable actually. Don’t get me started on how terrible most of his coaching hires have been. And Will Wade was handed to him. He didn’t make that hire. But how in the hell did he miss on Bennett? Dude is an absolute cancer to LSU and needs to hire a moving crew soon. It’s absolutely embarrassing to look at Joe’s failures and think he’s still here.

Alleva has been embedded in LSU for like a decade. AND he still appears unaware of our football culture.

I despise Alleva as much as anyone but Trent Johnson had much better credentials at the time.

Bennett is a really good coach. But I'm not too sure he would have been better than Johnson here. He has coached at UWGB,Wash State, and now Viginia. Johnson Nevada and Stanford. I'm not too sure he would get the types of players that would fit the type of system he wants to run. High BB IQ types. Say what you want as talented as we were this year BB IQ wise we were lacking. Also in the land made famous by Pete and Shaq, I dont think his slow it down and grind every possession would be entertaining enough for the natives for very long.

Trent Johnson was a fraud. Dude got lucky with the Lopez twins and rode their coattails. Johnson knew he was gonna suck at Stanford after they left so he might as well go suck at LSU. Alleva can’t evaluate talented coaches. Just look at his coaching hire resume. It’s an embarrassment that he actually gets paid to hire any coach.

Joe Alleva misses bad on everything! He's more interested in playing politics than going out and interviewing great coaches, then hiring the best qualified one for LSU.
Tony Bennett could've been easily grabbed from Washington State and LSU would now be a national power in College basketball.
He didn't fit the Alleva Mold.
