I've spent the better part of the last 20 years hating on Lane Kiffin and everything he has been associated with.
I don't know how people can embrace him with open arms.
So you want a coach that's only coached at LSU? All coaches and now, most players are mercenaries. It doesn't matter where they coached or played. The question is, can they provide you with positive results if they come to LSU? If they can you go get them.
Lane will prove to be that guy. I have no doubt.

Do you hate Joe Burrow because he spent more years at Ohio State? Ed Orgeron spent time at Tennessee and USC with Kiffin and was also the head coach at Ole Miss. He also spent a ton of time at Miami. Not to mention he quit on LSU as a player. You must despise Ed Orgeron, as well.
Well said. I was coming to post in this same vein.
And if you want to extend this thought: Aaron Anderson is another good example. Maybe even better since he was a Louisiana kid who initially spurned LSU for Bama. When he transferred home to LSU, all that was forgotten and everyone cheered him on.
I think support of the team generally trumps support of a player or coach. It's within the context of them being part of the team any of us root for any of them at all... whatever their history has been. Same idea pops in all sports and even in sports entertainment like wrestling, where there are alliances or factions, and a good guy turns heel or vice versa, resulting in portions of the fanbase reacting emphatically to the turn.
Beyond sports, you see it in movies and books, when people switch sides and become heroes of sorts. And sometimes it even happens in real life when enemies become friends or even fall in love.
Personally, I think Woodward had two huge failures as AD. Firing Wade instead of having his back (though I admit I don't know the details of the investigation that might have led to the calculus of that decision) and not hiring Kiffin instead of Kelly. I supported Kelly and was hopeful based on how we came in and built a depleted roster into a respectable team in year 1, but I always preferred Kiffin.
Hiring a coach without a past that includes stops at a rival is neither rational nor realistic, and would be detrimental to any good faith coaching search for the best man.

Hey dipshit, Lane is an a-hole, but he's our a-hole now.

That’s the dumbest thing I’ve read here in awhile, and that’s saying a lot considering how much dumb crap gets posted here. Go tigers, hope Kiffen is successful and stays here and wins for a long time

Jamarcus put zero effort into being an NFL quarterback. Kiffin knew Russell was lazy before Davis drafted him.
Russell failed himself. I never thought he was great or the complete package.
As for the rest of that list, it doesn’t matter where he came from. If he’s an SOB, I’m glad he’s OUR SOB!

LSU fans since birth love their coach. No way

I don't really care as long as he wins games here. That simple.

Rouge
This is how Baton Rouge got its name. Settlers showed up at the spot along the big river and there was your ancestor, Pooping Dog Rouge, smoking in his teepee and rambling on about stupid shite he didn't understand.
The settlers quickly picked up big sticks, called batons by the French element of the group, and beat the shite out of Rouge.
Beat that arse rouge actually.

How can anyone that loves LSU like Lane Kiffin?
I don’t need to like anyone.
I don’t know Lane Kiffin, I don’t know Brian Kelly.
I rooted for both of them to succeed at LSU because I want to see LSU football win games.

If I can (at least initially) accept BK, I can do the same for Kiffin.
