Kiffin was easy and fun to poke fun at for much of his career, and was kind of an entertainment of his own. I never really hated the guy, though I never really wanted him as our coach either. CFB is a weird, incestuous place. One day a coach (and nowadays a player) can be the devil incarnate and then the next be the savior cometh. Or the opposite. You kind of just have to cheer for your team or be in misery.
I will say that he seems to be a changed man. And that's trying to set aside the PnG glasses. If nothing else he's trying to put on a front that he's a changed, and more mature guy. And even if it's completely a coach speak facade that's still a stark contrast from the kiffin of just a few years ago.
He has the potential to be really good here. We'll see if that manifests, but I'm a FANatic so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until I'm ready to run him out of town.

I don't know how people can embrace him with open arms.
I don't know a single LSU fan that isn't super excited about Lane being our coach
you are different and probably not an LSU fan

I don't think ya'll understand what I'm trying to say here. Let me use an analogy.
Think of a friend group. One girl gets ran through by the entire squad. Everybody knows it and everybody has their comments and chuckles about it. However, you make the decision start dating her and your perspective entirely changes seemingly overnight.
Lane is the girl that's been ran through.
LSU is the one that has gotten sloppy leftovers.
I get it. The action might be good, but how can you just forget about all of the past so quickly?

Because if she is a good chick otherwise and you get along with her and have stuff in common and have a good time what does it matter? Every girl has a past and has been with other men. Don't be so insecure that one of your buddies is packing more meat or is better than you. She is with you now so just go with the flow and enjoy it.

I've spent the better part of the last 20 years hating on Lane Kiffin and everything he has been associated with.
By all means, carry on hating. No one is asking you to love him.
I've not spent much time thinking about Kiffin, but if I had, as you have, as soon as he's working to make LSU great, I'm getting on board.

Show me where I questioned anything about his abilities as a coach.
It's like you people refuse to do basic reading comprehension.
Think about it this way. Think about working at a large company where the successful but annoying and immature manager has hopped around departments throughout the company while making your job more difficult all along the way. Then you learn that he's coming to join your department, and you're just supposed to be cool with that after seeing what he's done all around the company for years and years?

So you're more interested in having an emotional attachment to the coach vs results.
Kiffin is a great offensive mind that has matured as a coach and person. He's also shown to be ahead of most in understanding how to naviagte the NIL and portal era of CFB.
He now as more tools at his disposal from a money, staff, recruiting and facilities standpoint.
Maybe take a more pragmatic vs emotional view of what LSU is about to build.
