Pull up the hype videos. Nobody has one that matches Badger. Nobody anywhere.

He’s got 5 seasons worth in only 2!!

Arky too the week before. He was unreal. That year may be the best single season performance of any defensive player ever at any school. It’s a shame he didn’t win the heisman. Crazy we’ve had guys like him, Dorsey, PP7 who were superstars amongst superstars. It’s great to be a Tiger!

If you're over 60, it's Tommy Casanova.

For everyone else it's Honey Badger.

I am over 70 and remember Casanova well. If he hadn't dropped a potential interception against Notre Dame in the classic 1970 3-0 loss (on the play before ND kicked their field goal) I would agree with you.

I never saw Mathieu drop one right in his hands and saw him intercept many tougher ones. I love both of them, but for me, that puts TM first on your list and Casanove second.

He's a strange case...

That entire 2011 season, he was insane. Just magical. Best single season ever.

I've never considered him great beyond that. Sure, he played awhile in the NFL, even made some all pro teams, but I never considered him as an impact player in the pros.
That doesn't detract from his season. But for a career, no.

It seems a lot of yall aren’t old enough to remember or forget just how dominant Micheal Brooks was at LSU. Dude was an animal and definitely should be around the top of the list of greatest defensive players at LSU.

LSU needs to bring him back in some capacity. Would be a great asset.

Congrats. Maybe dumbest thing I’ve ever read on this board and that’s bold. All-Pro in the NFL is the most difficult thing in pro sports. Literally saying hey, you’re the most elite of the elite. He was first team 3x and second once.

Top three are the Honey Badger, Patrick Peterson and Tommy Casanova not necessarily in that order.

Head and shoulders the most exciting defensive player I ever saw play football.

The “best” is relative but he gets my vote.

I say two, I’ll take Patrick Peterson over him. Should have won the Heisman in 11.

I’m with you. PP7 didn’t disappear against Alabama.

Actually that's exactly what he did against Bama when he went out with a cramp.

Then Julio Jones took a WR screen to the house because our best player was on the sidelines.

I'll say top 5. If he had played in 2012, he would likely have been THE top player and may have won the Heisman if he had a repeat of his sophomore year. That being said, the list of the top 5 lsu defensive players of all time is going to be all dependent on semantics and opinions, and it's possible that someone new could be added to that list every year.

There are better players. More consistent.

There is not a better playmaker. A guy who can change the game with the spectacular.

I’ll say this, his spectacular sure was timely on frequent occasion. He’ll always be my favorite.

I'll say this, he had the most uncanny capability to position himself for almost every play. He just knew where to be.

How many defensive players have ever been a Heisman finalist? Not many.

The easier argument would be that his 2011 year was the greatest season of a defensive player in CFB history. His 2011 stats back that up.
