Man 20 and 21 reminded me so much of 98 and 99. Yeah the records weren't AS bad but the program was in a better state going into the seasons too. I'm thinking the 2022 season will be another fun season like 2000, where you can tell something great is coming
Hopefully you are right. LSU was a top 10 team to open the 98 season...with several key veteran players. Those guys didn't just suddenly forget how to play. It was Dinardo's decision to put Tepper in charge that completely destroyed an otherwise solid defense for two years.
Same with 20 and 21. While not quite on the 2019 level, LSU still had talent on the 20 and 21 teams. But like 98-99, the decision to completely change the defensive approach was disastrous. I've said it a hundreds times on here, but the best thing Orgeron did from 17-19 was to stay completely out of the way in terms of the game-play approach. After Aranda left O decided to run "his" defense...which was an abject failure. This was conclusively proven when LSU finally changed their terrible approach prior to the '21 Alabama game. Suddenly a lot of backups and guys who were a part of the prior 1.5 seasons of bad defense looked dominant vs. one of the best teams in the country.
Like in 98-99, there was talent on the 20-21 teams. The hope is like in 2000 LSU has removed the awful coaching that handicapped that talent.

After what happened the previous year that got Ms State the win over LSU, I don't feel bad about those calls one bit. i guess you can call it Karma.

I was a recruit that weekend. Got to be on the field before the game and hangout with the likes of Andrew Whitworth, Marcus Soears, Joe Addi etc…. Little did I know that they would take to us a Natty!

Great game
The stadium was buzzing that night. Just a different atmosphere back then that I don't think you can recreate.
Booty had an absolute rifle for an arm. I'll give him that.

Two things I hope Coach Kelly brings back:
Those exact uniforms and those end zones. Something like this.

Was my oldest child's first game in TS at 7 years old. We sat in the south end zone in some pretty good seats. Fond memory for me as a fan and a parent.

Man I miss watching Toefield and Davis running all over everybody. Such a great RB duo

Was my first time on the sidelines as a “guest” of LSU training staff - on MSU side of the field.
Towards the end of the game - and in OT, I’ve NEVER heard anything that loud.
The crowd was so loud, my host couldn’t hear me yelling 6” from his ear. Finally gave up. When we won? Holy crap…
Surreal.

My final year at LSU! That was an awesome game as Miss St.
Me too! That environment back then was a blast. Huge student section and then drive 1 mile to Plantation Trash for after party. What a time

Saban told the gridiron club before the game that we would run to their bubbles. Bubbles being the running lanes created by Joe Lee Dunn’s exotic blitz scheme. And that’s exactly what we did, especially in the 4th quarter. They couldn’t stop us.

One of the first games I ever attended. Great memories!

That was my freshman year at LSU. Beating them, Bama and UT was huge for the program.

Remember watching that game as a kid. I was 11. Awesome win. Toefield was such a beast for us.

as rewarding as all the national championships were and and as satisfying 2001 was. the 2000 season was the most fun. we had two OT home wins.

Total fumble on that first TD.
Maybe.

But we've had our share of bad calls.
See 1999 LSU-State game.
