Whole bunch LSU has no recruiting advantage in NIL

Now, there is no evidence it’ll rebound because West Fel has nothing to offer

No, but I do think it’s a fair question to ask why can’t Jay put together back to back seasons. Even going back to his time at Arizona he’s never advanced past regionals in back to back seasons. Something the heavy vast majority of experienced SEC coaches have done. I know people like to blame playing late into Omaha, but that hasn’t been nearly the issue for some guys as it has been for Jay. It’s a reason, but it’s not an acceptable one.

2025 Tennessee - Lost in Supers
2024 LSU - Lost in Regionals
2023 Ole Miss - Missed Tourney
2022 Mississippi State - Missed Tourney
2021 N/A
2020 Vanderbilt - N/A (13-5 when season was cancelled)
2019 Oregon State - 0-2 in home regional
2018 Florida - CWS
2017 Coastal Carolina - Missed Tourney
2016 Virginia - Lost in Regionals
2015 Vanderbilt - CWS
2014 UCLA - Missed Tourney

That’s going back 10 full seasons (skipping 2020 and 2021 because of Covid).. There’s a pretty clear pattern of what’s likely to happen if you win a title.

2 teams in the last 10 made it back to Omaha, and only 3 made it through regionals. 4 missed the postseason altogether.

Like I keep trying to tell people, when you win a natty you’re doing it on the back of juniors and seniors who mostly move on to pro ball.

If this happens again next year then Jay should be on the hot seat in 2028.

What would everyone's opinion be if that Arkansas outfielder didn't boot that fly ball in Omaha and LSU went home last season?

What would everyone’s opinion be if LSU got the final out in the 2022 and 2024 regionals, going on to host 4 Super regionals in a row and likely making Omaha at least 3 times in that span?

See how that works?

In this scenario, what happens in the next game when kade anderson goes against TBA for arkansas? How do you think that day goes for arkansas? Honestly?

No one would choose a undefeated sec record over 2 NC in the last 4 years. Literally no one.

Yes- a major collapse such as this does not happen automatically!

Bad seasons happen to good coaches. 2 years ago UCLA was 19-31 (9-21 in conf) and now they are poised to win the title. A ton of Hall of Fame coaches have had shite seasons. Every program in America would sign up for this season if it meant they got a NC in 2023 and 2025.

No. I would like some fresh takes on the coaching staff to help him though.

It’s shockingly poor considering Skenes, Crews, Tanks, Anderson, Eyanson, Curiel, Bear, etc were in the dugouts.

He needs elite 1st round types to even have a chance and that only gets you .520 SEC ball.

The red flags are there. 1 and 1 mulligan only. Next year in a regional or bust.

Jay is the best coach in the country. College has turned into full roster turn over every year due to the portal. Some years you will hit, some you won’t. Imagine coaching in the MLB but every year you have to find a way to replace 2-3 starting pitchers and 5-6 bats in the lineup, that’s what you have right now. Due to this shite show the NCAA has everyone dealing with this is going to be the norm, and the better your team is one year the harder the potential fall will be due to roster turnover.

Yes, I think there were cracks in the armor showing last year that weren't corrected after the season. Particularly hitting approach. Not many guys have improved as hitters while at LSU, were constantly down in counts, and it's been very common for guys to look lost at the plate. I hope to see some changes in that department this off-season.

A little bit. We are 14th in SEC standings out of 16 teams with only USCe and Mizzou being ranked below us.

We are also getting swept on the regular.

I don’t think any reasonable fan is calling for Jay to be fired or to even be on the hot seat, but he’s definitely earned some criticism for this catastrophic failure of a baseball season.

No reason to panic. He publicly admitted his misstep and said he will fix it. He's earned time to fix the issues. I fully expect him to have the 2028 team back in Omaha. Next year build the team back up and host a regional with a chance to win a super and go to Omaha. But then in 2028 actually make it to Omaha.
