Football team staying on campus night before home games in 2026

Any truth to football team staying on campus the night before home games this season instead of local area hotel? Was told LSU backed out of contract with the Renaissance and is going with the campus option per LK preference. Can see pros and cons. Anyone else hearing this?

Other than last year staying at the Renaissance they usually stay on the campus hotel by the LSU lakes. This isn’t anything new or different

Can’t imagine there’s anything to do around campus on a game weekend to tempt a good looking athlete into not getting a good nights sleep.

Just checked LC site and you can't book a Friday night for any of the home games. Suggests team is staying there.

You can’t book a Friday night of home game weekend but that doesn’t necessarily have anything to the team. People own rights to their room and many choose to use them game weekends. So not very many rooms are available to begin with as most are already spoken for

We stay in Lod Cook and the team is staying there this season. The team stayed there before Kelly, but he moved them off campus his first season.
You will know they are at Lod Cook on Friday when state troopers are stationed at each entrance checking to make sure we have our room key cards to get back in at night.

In 2012, 2023, and 2025 Ole Miss stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Tupelo the night before the LSU game. That's 50 minutes from Oxford.
I KNOW this to be true because I SAW them there. It's where we stayed and have stayed for LSU games in Oxford since 2000.
And, NO, we are not going this year. I am too old to subject my wife and I to enraged OMiss fans.

LSU used to stay at the Holiday Inn on Hwy 30 in Gonzales (now Clarion) the night before back in the DiNardo, and I think Hallman days, because there was nothing to distract the players back then.

Quick story, when Saban was here, he wanted the team to stay at Lod Cook when it opened instead of the Holiday Inn in Gonzales. The head of the Alumni Association, Charlie Roberts, who actually operate the hotel denied Saban's request.
Saban went to Mark Emmert, LSU President, and got the decision reversed with the team then staying at Lod Cook.

Kiffin said in his press conference Monday that their mock gameday they had Satyrday was to emulated everything even down to the time. He specifically mentioned hotel, they ate their gameday meal, what they gonna wear on gameday, the busses, the walk, warming up, the tunnel, everything, even the band and pregame speeches. He mentioned hotel so it seems like that is the continued plan to stay off campus the night before.
