How can you blame alleva here? He was trying to save the program and got undercut by a short sighted a-hole.
I just don't get it. Why does Alexander have the power over Alleva when it comes to athletics? Why even have an AD then?

I could see it being a power play by the president and the BOS to reign in TAF a bit. Yes you're privately funded but you still need our final approval.
All three foundations will eventually be merged into one.

Those private donors could instead send the money to the university. You know, the thing that actually matters.

Its their fricking money. They can do what they want with it.
And that's the thing. It is their money. People are going to give money to the things they care about. If it's football, it's football. Just because you don't agree with the priority you're going to refuse it? That's ridiculous.

It is King, period.
He cared about how it would look.. it wasn't going to happen..
There are so many positives a great football program can bring to the university and a splash hire would have really jump started excitement.
Oh wells..

You don't understand how the president of the university has power over the athletic director?

Then they should start sending those millions to the LSU Foundation. We have one of the lowest endowments in the SEC

Well that confirms that this jackass and his budget battles are to blame.
I really wish people would understand that LSU's budget battles happened long before King Alexander arrived at LSU. It's LSU's fault 100%. Hiring excess instructors, Deans, assistant Deans, Chancellors, Vice Chancellors, Etc, and then giving all of them tenure when most should of been fired. They have way to much fat and they never trimmed it. NOT King Alwxanders fault. He's right in his explanation in keeping Miles!

Boys...this gives Miles carte blanche to do whatever the frick he wants to do (or not do) for the forseeable future because these budget issues are not going away anytime soon.
Like Miles or not, this is true. The state's budget woes aren't going away anytime soon.

well if they get the end result they want after this special session, maybe he won't frick up the deal next year

F.King should be run out of town. He made a fool of himself in front of the legislature earlier in the year. Now he's making a fool of himself, the university, and our athletic department.
Athletics GIVES 10 mil or more to the academics every year. probably the only university REQUIRED TO DO SO.
Even if you want to talk about the money. What he just said was yes, we wanted to fire our coach. however, I'm scared to go before the legislature by doing so. I was to stupid to think about this before the thought of firing our coach. Now, I'm calling the Louisiana people stupid because they don't understand where the money comes from and what it perceives. Yet, again, I was to STUPID to think about this prior to announcing to the world we want to replace our coach.
Yet, Does nothing to right the wrong. He gave this university a black eye for three weeks knowing the entire time he would not agree to the buyout. why start the fing process, then? freaking dumb arse!

That's fine. But that still doesn't explain the lack of communication between Alleva and Alexander on all this. Rumors were allowed to fester for 2 weeks. If this was never going to happen, there never should have been a leak in the first place. Hell, there never even should have been any contact with Jimbo.
don't be foolish. King was probably all about the switch until he got cold feet over the perception of the expense. He let Joe think the deal was good, until the last minute, knowing Joe would get all the blame. Why do you think Joe never denied the story? Cause as far as he knew, Miles was gone. King screwed everyone over from teh university to Miles on this because he is a greedy, gutless academic leader.

The way I see it is like this...
Suppose you're a recent college graduate, about 90k debt in student loans and you're living with your parents without a job yet. You've also borrowed about 10k from your family for various reasons. One day you get this bright idea to start a gofundme and an anonymous person donates 100k to you. You then decide that you're going to use that money to pay off your 2013 BMW and trade it in and put a down payment on a brand spankin new 2016 BMW. Now let's say a few months later, you desperately need to borrow money from your relatives again. Do you think they'll shell out the money to you? They'll say why can't you just start another gofundme campaign and pay for it yourself?

When it comes to hiring a coach? No I don't. So Alexander is involved in every coaching hire? Either way this is a complete shite show by everyone involved. And the only one that doesn't look foolish is Miles.
I said LSU would frick this up and I got blasted for it. Where are all the people claiming LSU prints money and they can hire anyone they want. Because obviously they can't.

Now it's all "Go get 'em Les."

Don't believe it.
Don't believe anything from a Louisiana public administrator.
My take:
Administration thought they had Jimbo in the bag.
Jimbo backed out.
Most of the big money backers wanted Jimbo and no one else.
There was no Plan B.
Scramble for excuses.

and this is why we are sometimes the laughing stock of the nation.
the answer is LSU is a college.
the college has a number of dept.s
the athletic dept is one of those
the head of the college is the BOS
they hire a PRESIDENT to run the college
the dept heads report to the PRESIDENT
therefore the PRESIDENT is the boss.
LSU is supposed to be a college with a football team. but it is obvious that some, if not many think that it's a football team with a college.
EDUCATION is what you get to get a good job.
FOOTBALL is what you watch for entertainment.

Pretty much happens every year when the AD donates money to the school
Also again it's their money and they can donate it how they see fit.

It's such a paternalistic slap in the face.
"You people are too stupid to know the difference between public and private funding so I'm just taking all the toys away."
