BATON ROUGE - A former LSU and NFL running back was formally charged on vehicular homicide charges stemming from a Baton Rouge crash that killed two people and sent two others to the hospital in critical condition.
Court records show Richard Murphy was formally charged Thursday on two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of first-degree vehicular negligent injury.
He was allegedly involved in a June 14 wreck along Main Street that killed Robert Tarver, 94, and Carla Tarver, 69. Murphy was allegedly driving a Ford F-250 and crashed into the Tarvers' Ford F-150. Witnesses said the F-250 was driving erratically at a high rate of speed before running a red light and striking the passenger side of the F-150.
Sources told WBRZ that Murphy was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the crash.

They have video from traffic cameras. His best outlook was 2 counts of vehicular homicide.

That’s extremely sad. I always liked RM and he always had a ton of buzz coming out of the spring game. Just never quite put it all together. Thoughts and prayers to the victims families.

Murphy is looking at 65 years in state prison following his formal indictment. The charges include consecutive sentences for two counts of vehicular homicide and additional time for first-degree vehicular negligent injuring.

Didn’t know this, but according to his Wikipedia his father died when he was 10 and mother when he was 17, both of cancer.
Still made it to LSU and although always a role-player was a small part of the 07 championship team, came back from an ACL and was awarded #18 then played a year with the Jaguars.
I know I’m a bleeding heart, but I feel like all this should be taken into consideration, especially if he has no prior criminal record.

My understanding was that there was a warrant out on him before this incident. My bleeding heart is for the victims.

I always preached to my kids that we all make mistakes but to not make “big” ones that have permanent repercussions. Well this is a big one. He’ll have to face the music as he should.

I thought I remembered a play where he like flipped over a defender or maybe got hit into the air and landed it. Maybe I'm thinking if the wrong RB.
Still I hate hearing this. Two people are gone forever for a stupid decision, and that decision left him a murderer for life. So much unnecessary pain.

The OP was being a weirdo about the whole thing pretending to seek information while already knowing what happened and it turned into a disaster
