Well, not so fast. As ESPN’s Brett McMurphy reported, Florida offered that to LSU and LSU’s administration declined, wanting to keep that home game with South Alabama and all the revenue that would come with it. Buyouts for South Alabama ($1.5 million) and Presbyterian ($500,000) would have to be paid. You'd also be taking a football game away from two programs that want this game, no matter the eventual outcome. LSU would also have to play on the road against a physical Florida team before a Thursday-night game with Texas A&M. Maybe you could move that game back to Friday or Saturday, but now you’re involving TV issues and affecting five teams.

Well let the SEC eat the 2 million and play on the 19th. Neither school should have to pay this out as the SEC office dropped the ball on this situation. LSU is always on the bad end of scheduling. This would be no different than years past.

Alleva said no one contacted him about the Nov. 19 thing.
Ordinarily I'd be skeptical believing this but given the facts that we offered to play Saturday, Sunday or Monday, there, here, had lodging for them if they were to come here, charter flight transportation from LSU for Florida to get here, all of which were declined by Foley, makes me think Alleva is telling the truth.
Florida never wanted this game to happen. It's blatantly obvious at this point.

More than 2 million, that's just the SA breakup fee. Another 3-4 in lost home game profit too.

And the disgusting thing is how frequently when things like this happens LSU gets the shaft.
LSU offers myraid of possibilities, all get shot down by UF with no discussion or compromise.
UF gets their way, LSU deemed uncooperative because they didn't agree to their terms.
When discussion starts of maybe hybridizing the idea to make it more fair to LSU, suddenly the rhetoric swings back to how it's just too hard and complicated and too many factors to be fair to LSU.

I know for a fact that they had lodging set up for them.

Someone needs to somehow get the point across that this was ALL UF doing ... WE OFFERED PLANES, HOTELS, BUSES, FOOD ... WHAT MORE THE HECK COULD THEY WANT???
Besides a cancelled game of course ...

Alleva should go on Sportscenter and lay it out for them of what actually happened. Because he is being played and his job is probably on the line right now.

Or Thursday the 17th. That would give LSU a full week prior to the A&M game.

$1.5 mil doesn't come close to the value of this game. That simply pays off the commitments
102,000 tix x $50 = $5.0 mil gate receipts.
$$$ TV revenue
$$$ concessions
$$$ parking
$$$$$$$$$$ community spending in hotel and restaurants

Screw ESPN, screw UF, and screw Foley. They're all a bunch of candyass bitches.
Multiple plans provided to play the game, and this is the result chosen. Just pitiful.

I'm sorry the dumbass has no press conferences all week then waits till 6 today, hours after UF and just when the SEC network couldn't carry it live.
Posted on 10/6/16 at 8:06 pm to BallChamp00
ESPN is not going to give LSU a fair shake here. They're still all butthurt and perpetuating the narrative that Les Miles got a raw deal because he's "their boy" and he's a popular polarizing figure for them.

By reading the paragraph you posted, any reasonable person would say "of course they declined." I don't see this as a knock.
