Considering that we'd still have to play Texas A&M after Florida, there would be no way a berth in the SECCG would be on the line at that point, unless both Bama and the Aggies had 2 or more SEC losses each.

Best I can tell, since we now pretty much know the 11/19 offer was a lie, UF offered NO terms.

Haven't heard a single thing they put on the table for Alleva to turn down, except this fairytale.

It's not unnamed to him, is it?

And yes, he very likely didn't report it without confirming with his sources.

I'm not sure if you just don't understanding how this works or what.

Another 3-4 in lost home game profit too.

This was never going to happen if a lot of people evacuated.

Has anybody bothered to ask Forfeit if LSU refused?
If not, why?

Why won't Forfeit just come out and put a face to that claim?
Hmmmmmm, I wonder why?

Well let the SEC eat the 2 million and play on the 19th. Neither school should have to pay this out as the SEC office dropped the ball on this situation. LSU is always on the bad end of scheduling. This would be no different than years past.

Why do you ignorant people keep saying this? Why should LSU have to play 3 road games in 11 days?

Its not just 1.5 million that would be owed to South Alabama. Who is going to give LSU the on average 4-5 million that is made on a home game?

We may not have much of a choice if we want to max out our chances of going to the title game.

Play the game on December 3rd. If the outcome of the game impacts who is in the SECC game, then move that back to December 10th.

That'll provide "punishment" to the SEC for all the crap they'll get from the rest of the country in how their decision-making threw a wrench into the play-off events, timing, revenue lost from less advertising due to a "lost" week, etc.

My FB friends that are Gator fans say I am immature saying they could have moved the game and not worrying about the people evacuating. I wish all of those people and safety. I don't see how bad mouthing the Fla admin on actually not wanting to play immature.

This is the part that I hate, because as more and more news comes out- it appears that florida had no "terms". It basically came down to if we couldn't play at noon, in gainsville, on Saturday, there would be no game at all. That was their terms. They knew that as soon as a state of emergency was declared that there was no way LSU was sending their team to gainsville, hence they made the cancellation announcement just after the state of emergency was declared.

If the circumstance came down to playing and beating UF gets you to the SEC CG or canceling and you don't go...yea you should concede.

Well, if it ends up being a possibility then maybe we look at it then. If we agree to it now and come November 19th we have a couple losses then that would have been a terrible decision.

The time for us to decide is not right now. Hell if Florida can take their time then we sure as hell can.

What happens if we are the only one loss team and everyone else has two? Should we still play that game?

Welcome to media 101, how do you not already know that?

It doesn't make what he's reporting...and it also doesn't make it not true.

Fwiw I drove from Louisiana to Alabama today and caught some local Mississippi and Alabama sports talk radio and they all seem to be on LSU's side in this deal. They basically said that it appears Florida did not want to play the game and weaseled their way out of it.

That's great. I understand Butch Jones said he wants the LSU/UF game played also (or course he has an interest, but at least he spoke up about it) on a sports radio show in his neck of the woods.

Found this by Mascona as posted on Gridiron Now:

"All I could do,” Alleva said, “was offer more opportunities and plead and beg to make it happen.”

"The more LSU offered, the more Foley dug in, no doubt laughing inside."

"Slow clap."

"While national media members laud the SEC for making the right decision, a small corner of the world in Baton Rouge is dumbfounded. Their sentiments are even shared in Knoxville."

“They have to play that football game,” Tennessee coach Butch Jones said on a local radio program. “I know the SEC will do the right thing.”

"So as the Gators heal up and Jones and Ed Orgeron fume, Foley is probably sipping on a cocktail, chuckling, as he congratulates himself on one final masterpiece."
