really wish the courts would just allow college sports to go back to being college sports. I know this is an LSU board but these 4 players aren't worth it. Someone has to be able to enforce something

These players aren’t worth the downside

Just my opinion here, but for this 2022 class, it seems one way to come up with a compromise is to draw the line at making the 53 man roster.
Or NBA equivalent.
Or NBA equivalent.

The only way to fix this is unionize and have a collective bargaining agreement. They are paid employees now, even if we the fans, the schools and conferences don’t want to admit it. You can’t have a billion dollar organization that’s ran and litigated through the court system as its board of governors. It’s not sustainable.

It’s a whole new world with paying players. It ain’t going back to what it was, cramps. The leadership is resisting the change, but eventually the brand of college football will take a nosedive and some people equipped to come in with solutions will ascend to power.
This is new. I have never seen anyone interject they have cramps or any other bodily function in the middle of their post. Will this become a, burp, thing?

Why? What did he do?

My guess there will be a statement from all the conferences tomorrow saying that due to the court order its out of their hands and these class of 2022 players will be able to play their final year of eligibility.
It was so easily all avoidable.
This was a one off fix from a one off problem they created.

1. Here is a newsflash: LSU spent 51million on football payroll. The SEC averages 31 million on football NIL payroll. Players are now having to take paycuts to go to the NFL. It is insanity to keep trying to pretend that college sports are for amateurs.
2. The players suing to get a 5th year of eligibility were blatantly discriminated against because of the year they were born and the rule enacted after they could make informed decisions. Many Woukd never have gone pro tjis year.
3. The enactment of the discrimination was so bad that 18 courts from across the country have ruled in favor of 200 players .
So let’s trample rights of players and allow blatant discrimation and unfairness so that we can pretend college sports are still amateurs ?!?!?

I am not sure Greg is that smart. He's on a power trip.

NCAA created this mess on purpose it seems. If any one entity has lost institutional control, its the NCAA.

NCAA and SEC's shortsightedness on 3 issues have caused this fiasco:
NIL money without any kind of limit
Portal transfers without any limitation of times ....like one per career
4 to play 4 changing to 5 to play 5 without any respect or consideration for the players that were limited to 4/4 .
Just plain lack of foresight by both groups and now they are going to be in court for quite some time defending their stupidity.

Maybe in this era of college football , the head of the SEC should be very familiar with sports law , not just another bubba guy .

Yeah, I don't see how he can survive publicly threatening his member institutions to collude in order to defy a court order.

Second, the NCAA could just have acknowledged their late 5 for 5 rule change has caused this. This could simply be an anomaly and it wouldn’t have risen to this.
The Covid year was sure as frick an anomaly, so it’s not like there’s no precedent.
