Deep thought here but if seniors supposedly have zero leverage, then I don’t understand how it’s perceived juniors have so much leverage when if they don’t sign for the number offered and they return to school they are returning to school to in theory make even less money because they have zero leverage. So it’s almost like the system has created this leverage for juniors thing when in reality if the teams played hard ball with them who is really going to go back to school to make even less. Idk just a thought but just seems all crazy and if they add a 5th year of eligibility, makes shite even more crazy.

Either stay here or go get lost in minor league ball somewhere. Neither one probably making it to the big show would be very surprised.

I have it on good authority that both will be back next year.

doubtful, the crazy part is their situation at LSU money and facilities are better than what they'll be seeing the next few years.

Absolutely not. I could see if they made it back to Omaha and came up short and that hunger for another championship could maybe make them want to come back, but after a season like this I would personally move on.

YES! They both suck, and both are coming back as they are not ready for MLB. End Of Story! Happy?

Does you ever learn proper English?

With the new rule wouldn't Milam and Brown have 2 yrs left to play(not 1) and Curiel 3(not 2)? Or no?

Let's use a recent example. Going into the postseason last year, Jay was pretty convinced that Ethan Frey was coming back. Then, Frey climbed the draft boards and was selected in the 3rd round. Jay lined up some money to pay him his slot value and then some, hoping to get him back. Frey used that leverage to get paid over slot by Houston.

Yeah but playing devils advocate if someone not expected to go high is drafted way above their expected landing spot, if being a senior basically ruins your money for the next year why realistically even if LSU matched or slightly exceeded why would he really come back to school to get drafted higher and get paid under slot. It be foolish in reality.

Do. Do they return, you cretin?

This leverage foolishness is overblown.
Then you obviously do not know how MLB draft works. Each pick has slot money assigned but that does not mean you will get it. If you are out of college eligibility then the team that drafts you will give you below slot value. Then some HS kid they are trying to woo into signing will get over slot as an incentive to sign. But if you are 3rd yr draftee and have at least an option to stay in college then they tend to give you your slot money.

MLB Draft 2025 Slot Values and Bonus Pools
In the 2025 MLB Draft, each team has a bonus pool — the total amount of money it can spend on signing bonuses for its picks in the first 10 rounds without incurring penalties. The slot value is the assigned dollar amount for each pick in those rounds, and teams can spend above, below, or at that value, but overspending triggers penalties MLB+1.
Key 2025 Draft Figures
Overall bonus pool: $350,357,700, up $15.98M from 2024 EssentiallySports.
No. 1 overall pick (Washington Nationals): $11,075,900 slot value — the highest in MLB history MLB.
Largest bonus pool: Seattle Mariners — $19,144,500 MLB.
Smallest bonus pool: New York Yankees — $5,383,600 MLB.
Record bonuses: Chase Burns (No. 2, Reds) and Charlie Condon (No. 3, Rockies) signed for $9.25M each, matching the 2024 record MLB.
Slot Value Ranges (Rounds 1–10) EssentiallySports
Round 1: $11.08M (No. 1) down to ~$1.4M for later picks.
Round 2: ~$1.4M to $2.22M (No. 44).
Round 3: High six figures, often $1M+.
Rounds 4–10: Slot values drop into the low six figures and below, depending on pick position.
How Spending Works
Below slot value: Extra money can be used on other players.
Above slot value: Overspending incurs penalties:
0–5% over: 75% tax on overspent amount.
5–10% over: 75% tax + loss of a first-round pick.
10–15% over: 100% tax + loss of first- and second-round picks.
15%+ over: 100% tax + loss of two first-round picks Sporting News.
Why It Matters
Slot values and bonus pools are central to MLB Draft strategy. Teams must balance talent acquisition with financial risk management. High-value picks in early rounds can be costly, and overspending can severely limit future draft capital Sporting News.
If you want the full 2025 slot value table for each pick, MLB and draft coverage sites publish it after the Draft Lottery, showing exact amounts for all 30 teams’ first 10 rounds.

We should add Sheerin and Moore to this discussion. There also players that could contribute next year like Guidry, Noot and Garcia.
