Does Ausberry have the potential to be a solid player? All I’ve seen is people saying..

People on here were excited when we got Major Burns to transfer from Georgia like it was some coup.

I'd stay away from judging incoming players based on the reactions of the people that post here.

I trust this staff evaluations than the last staff. They tried to go after rankings this past year ala Denver and Duece. First year was all LA guys. Defense was solid first year. It’s not hard get players that WANNA play. Defense is about attitude and want.

Who do you think did the evaluation for Ausberry considering until yesterday we had a defensive staff that brought midget chestnut in?

No one knows how good he is because he hasn’t really played the past 2 years. We are all guessing.

And portal evaluations are a joke, both the high and low rankings.

How do you grade a player as a 4-star, then he redshirts, and then sits behind an upperclassman, and now as a redshirt freshman he is a 3-star?

There are other examples of a 5-star who redshirts and then enters the portal as a 4-star. How is that possible, from a rankings standpoint? What additional information do they have?

Redshirt freshman. Just think of him as a smart 3 star. Maybe he develops, maybe he's a backup. Much too early to write off or pencil in as a starter. .

This is a good rule to follow.

Should be the same with recruiting out of high school but it’s a thread about stars everyday

I'd say there is a significant difference between:

and

if you meant we should disregard the evaluations of On3 and 247Sports.

I thought he just had to leave Baton Rouge and the LSU campus for obvious reasons since he’d been here for so long? Really confusing since that explanation was so believable.

If he came in as a 4* and didnt make an impact for 2Y, id say bumping him down is fair

We aren’t guessing in saying he wasn’t good enough to get significant playing time at Auburn.

I'm not speaking of Ausberry specifically. I'm just talking about portal evaluations.

If in those two years, one was a redshirt and one was as a backup to upperclassmen, it seems a bit wrong. He was only a redshirt freshman this year.
