College football now is the developmental league for the nfl. The good part of that is that you don't have to get depressed when they lose, but you can still feel good when they win if you so choose. I feel much less emotionally attached to it and don't feel that I have to watch every minute of every game like I used to. Now, if I miss watching a game, if I have other things to do, it's no big deal to me. But for some obsessive compulsive reason, I still follow all the recruiting and transfer portal and all that stuff.

Yep! I spend more time on here bitching about NIL and the portal and reminiscing about the good old days than I do watching LSU or any other college football. Maybe Gen Z will keep the game afloat!

Do you think these are socio-moral equivalents?

If I love my hometown, can I leave it to attend LSU?

lol no it’s not. This is delusional.

What’s delusional is assuming $ with zero ROI will continue to flow forever under this model

Sure. I don’t care what you do.

Then don’t watch.

Delusional take.

Players were getting comped under the table the whole time. Now it’s public.

Source- Coach O. Also common sense. Whole football team had brand new chargers when I was in school.

At this point you're cheering for the laundry.

I have lost a lot of interest. My family still loves it. Since I can’t really can follow recruiting classes anymore I have lost a lot of interest as is. Following practice reports rumors of freshman and little known diamonds in the rough isn’ta thing any more.

I still watch but not as adamantly any more and my weekends are not dedicated anymore.

College football gains new fans every year. Young kids start watching for the first time. College kids start enjoying football where there are going to school.

New fans every year.

College football loses old fans every year. Peoples' lives get busier with new priorities. Money gets spent on more pressing issues. Age gets all of us.

Lose fans every year.

Viewership is up. Attendance is up. YOU may not be watching it as much. YOU may have lost some interest as you age. That's life.

College football is doing fine. It did fine before you started cheering, and it will do fine after you leave.

Viewership is up this year but that’s obviously not a trend yet. There’s 2 types of fans; baws like us who follow their team, and baws like us when we watch other CFB games. What I see is that fans of specific teams are not as passionate about their teams as they were 6-7 years ago and prior because of the ever changing roster, lack of loyalty, and other ills of the $. But the overall popularity of CFB in general may be in decent shape?

I’m 100% against unregulated NIL and unlimited transfer with no sit-outs and hope that Saban can influence the conference commissioners to get their shite straight this Spring.

I can only speak for myself but I increasingly feel less connected to the team despite going to the school.

I'm going to follow but I'm not going to give them money nor pay to watch them play unless the tickets are cheap, which means they'll be playing a nobody or suck.

It is frustrating but it’s also cool that we can have a championship team in a year or two instead of 5-8 years of recruiting and building.

I had a real connection with this 19 year old who I’ve never met because he was born 60 miles from where I live and was being paid under the table cash.

I don’t have the same connection now because the guy playing is from 300 miles away and the payments aren’t hidden.

I have nothing against them but would you rather root for CJ Daniels and Logan Diggs or Justin Jefferson and CEH? If current portal rules had been in place just a few years ago, there is no way we could have kept (paid) Chase and Jefferson, CEH would not have waited his turn, he would have transferred to Arkansas or Southern Miss.

Delane and Haulcy are very good football players but I’d rather root for Louisiana kids to go 8-4 vs. importing pro players who displace the kids who have been in the program for 3 years.
