Coastal beat Auburn at home twice to take the SR.

All you need to know they are legit.

This won’t even be close. Both games.

It will be close. Coastal has solid pitching. I expect 6-4 type games. I like LSU’s chances with Kade and Eyanson backed up by Evans and Shores. And if we stumble, and it goes three, then Cowans and Noot give us a good chance in the rubber match.

Anybody that is discounting one of the 2 only remaining teams left doesn't know college baseball. You have to get through the best teams to get to this point. They've done it without flinching, they haven't lost at all. You could argue they had an easier road to get here (debatable) but there is no east road to get to this point.

Sunbelt is ULL right?
They dominated the Sun Belt. If LSU was in the sun belt they probably go 26-4 too like Coastal did. CCU is #1 ELO, LSU #2. Both these teams belong in the finals

Who cares if posters discount Coastal.

The only people that matter are the guys on the field and the coaches.

I suspect they will be ready to go.

It will be a tough series. They are legit.

Coastal is 14-1 against Q4. We are 21-2 against Q4 demonstrating that we played a lot more shitty teams than they did.

So we played 8 more teams that qualified as Q4 teams than they did. Is that in part because LSU played more home games against lower RPI teams?

A game is a Q4 game if you are paying them at your home stadium and their RPI is 101-307, if you play that same team at their home stadium and they have an RPI of 101-120 it will be a Q2 game, and 121-240 will be a Q3 game.

Using your logic, since LSU is 17-11 vs Q1 and CC is 12-6 in Q1 games, it indicates that LSU played a lot more elite teams than Coastal did.

If you look at it this way, LSU is 27-12 in Q1 & Q2 games (39 games) and 24-3 in Q3& Q4 games (27 games). Coastal is 20-9 in Q1 & Q2 games (29 games) and 36-2 in Q3& Q4 games (38 games). That is a much weaker schedule.

And the Sunbelt is down this year. They have the #7 conference RPI 1,SEC
2. ACC
3. Big12
4. Big10
5. CUSA
6. AAC
7. Sunbelt

This thread wasn't to say that coastal played a tougher schedule than LSU. It was to address all the people posting that Coastals win streak is due to their schedule

they are definitely a good team with a weak schedule.

but they’re 8-0 in the tournament so that’s not something to sneaks at.

They strike out 25% of their AB.
They get HBP 2.5 a game
96 SF and SH
108 Stolen bases

so they’re a scrappy small ball team who crowds the frick out of the plate and has gotten called a few times for leaning into pitches.

Coastal is 12-6 vs Q1- 67% win percentage LSU is 17-11 vs Q1 - 61%

Coastal is 6-0 in postseason against Q1, which is self-selecting given they made it this far. They were 2-2 in midweek games, which isn’t a true full-strength test, leaving them 4-4 on weekends during the regular season. They were 1-1 against Alabama and NC State in a preseason classic and 3-3 against #47 Troy and #52 East Carolina. Prior to the postseason, they just didn’t play upper echelon opponents and hardly distinguished themselves.

19 of LSU’s 29 Q1 matchups were against the Top 15 and 24 against the Top 25. They were 11-8 against the Top 25 in the regular season and 4-0 in the NCAA tournament. They were 9-3 in the regular season against Q1/2 opponents between #26-100. Coastal was 7-6.

It just demonstrates that Coastal played some of those lousy opponents on the road instead of at home so they count as Q3. They had 30 games against teams outside the Top 90 in the RPI. LSU had 24.

Great teams can come out of crappy conferences and compete with the best in the post season. CC has handled business throughout the postseason and can’t be discounted.

That being said, nobody…and I mean nobody…wants to start a three game series against Anderson and Eyanson with their bullpen relief throwing 100 mph heaters. I’m not saying that LSU is a lock, but CC is literally going to have to beat major league pitching throughout the weekend.

If they can do that, then my hat’s off to them. It’s going to be a great weekend of baseball between the two best teams left.

It’s down to a best of 3. You can take SOS stats from the regular season and throw them away. What happened in March doesn’t matter. You have two teams that are playing extremely well right now. Two teams that know postseason baseball. In one weekend, anything can happen. I love my Tigers, but I’m not dumb enough to overlook Coastal because of their conference.

Our fans did enough of that in 2016 and 2012 against Stony Brook. Hell, we’ve already forgotten the battle that lowly Little Rock gave us.
