Don’t worry it’ll end up being identical to a march madness bracket in college basketball. “We think expanding to a 68 team CFP is best for the game”. Money/greed ruins everything.

12 is not too many! Are you all saying that if LSU when 10-2 with close losses to teams like UGa or Bama, and we are held out of the playoffs because Notre Dame went 11-1, you wouldn't be pissed?

Face it, it is too hard to get everyone playing similar schedules with so many teams, so the ONLY solution to get all deserving good teams into the playoff is to expand.

The plus-side of that is eventually a team like JMU is going to beat someone or make a run, which would be awesome to see.

24 seems completely and utterly absurd.

It's exactly what FCS has had since 2021

Same number of teams roughly in FCS as in FBS

I do agree to a point, but at this point all the other bowl are crap and athletes are opting out if not in the playoffs. This hopefully will make more postseaon bowl games watchable again. And yes, the championship games are pointless now anyway so why do they still play them?

They’re trying to make both the season and post season meaningless

I would rather let in all of the mid major conference champions than the 4th place SEC/Big 10 teams, but that’s just me.

I think if they talk further expansion, then this should end conference championship games. Toward the end of the season, players are already beat up, higher risk for injury and having to play several more games??

12 teams is already too many. They are determined to ruin college football to the point the NFL becomes a better product. fricking shame

Agree even though it should have never gone past 8. 8 was the sweet spot IMO and they past it. Greedy fux.

The 4 team playoff was the perfect format, and I will die on this hill

No one is concerned about the long term, just trying to increase the TV deals for now until the bubble inevitably pops

24 teams is dumb but since the bowls have been reduced to exhibitions no one cares about anymore, ESPN needs to fill that hole so expansion is inevitable

24 is incredibly stupid and totally based on the Benjamins and a money grab.

There aren't 24 teams capable of winning a title. The lower seeded teams, including G5 programs, are just going to be fodder for the top shelf teams. This isn't basketball or baseball where a lower seed can "make a run".

Once again, the B1G's Petitti drags his nut sack across Sankey's chin.

Why the frick can't it just be a number that would eliminate Bye's? The expanded playoff has been good outside of the fact that the Bye's suck.

Tbh a final cfp number i could see being good for college football is 32. Seed them and everyone plays first round. 5 weekends of playoffs would be cool. Yes a 32 could beat a 1 or a 30 beat a 3. Yes having more teams in the cfp reduces the amount of top shelf talent only going to those blue bloods schools and more 4/5 stars to other schools. Balance.

However realistically speaking i think 16 would be a good number.
