Dave Aranda should never get the DC job here again and here’s why:

Dave Aranda’s Baylor defenses: Total Defense rankings by year:
Nationally: 2020 — 48th of 127 · 2021 — 31st of 130 · 2022 — 58th of 131 · 2023 — 110th of 133 · 2024 — 87th of 134 · 2025 — 87th of 136
Big 12: 2020 — 5th of 10 · 2021 — 4th of 10 · 2022 — 3rd of 10 · 2023 — 12th of 14 · 2024 — 11th of 16 · 2025 — 12th of 16
He hasn’t coached in the SEC in six years and hasn’t consistently faced SEC-caliber competition while in the Big 12. And these are his numbers? No thanks.

Talent LSU > Baylor

You do know that being DC is very different from being a HC right? It is very likely he is just better at putting together a gameplan and focusing on one side of the ball than he is at trying to over see the entire program. I am not even saying he should 100% be our DC next year if Bake leaves just your argument for him not even being looked at is very flawed.

He doesn’t have good players like LSU has.

You’re comparing apples to 2x4s

You trying to receive more down votes than the other poster who hates Aranda?

I love when people make a post like they really know a situation and then just end up looking like an idiot.

Dennis Allen was a horrible head coach, but the Bears have the 9th ranked defense in the NFL right now. Some coaches are just better as coordinators. Talented players also help

Context matters. Dave Aranda was the head coach at Baylor. So firstly, Baylor is not exactly a magnet for talent. Second, Aranda is not only not known as a good recruiter, he barely recruited at all from what I remember hearing when he was here. Knowing that about him, I never thought he would succeed as a head coach because, while LSU has plenty of people who can recruit while he focuses on coaching the defense here, you can't be an unenthusiastic recruiter, especially at a place like Baylor, when you are the head coach. You are the face of the program, so you better be ready to fight for every recruit.
If he comes back here and eventually becomes the DC again, he won't have to worry about any of that. With the talent he'll have here, he'll be successful again, I have no doubt.

Do you realize we play Bama tomorrow? Who gives a fook about next year. We're in contention right NOW and have a massive game tomorrow

Awful take.
He's proven he can be an outstanding DC multiple times (Utah St, Wisconsin, and LSU).
Have a downvote.

again and here’s why
Because he failed to have the #1 defense in the country with vastly inferior talent?

Of all the other answers you could have came up with as to why he shouldn’t be the DC here, this is what you come up with?

I noticed you didn’t post this year’s stats. Baylor put money towards their defense this year. They’re, *checks notes*, 12th in scoring defense this year. I’m sure that means nothing and had nothing to do with you accidentally omitting this year….

Yes, cause he did such awful job during his time at LSU
