It’s going to be hilarious when Wade instantly fixes the “terrible situation” he caused.

I don’t get the hate. He’s a really nice guy and is a hard worker. It just didn’t work out. We can be frustrated but also respectful.

The bashing is about the lack of success not about him as a person. Don’t make it weird.

Not really sure what this even means. I’ll treat him as such?

He’s not a terrible coach. He was terrible at LSU. Big difference.

Dude, it’s not tough luck. He wasn’t good at his job. I don’t see why we can’t acknowledge that. Don’t call his character into question, because he does seem like a good dude. But he put LSU BB in the cellar, any comments acknowledging that are simply truth.

Nice guy, yes
Hard worker? (No), no in person recruiting, zero effort to change, teams played lackadaisical and unintelligent basketball.

Regardless of the material you have to work with, if you’re a worker your teams don’t play the way his did. Don’t hate McMahon but this continued grace he’s given just isn’t warranted

Whatever else he is, he's an awful basketball coach. That's just a demonstrable fact.

No one with a brain & who's intellectually honest bashed McNugget as a person but the man's record speaks for itself! He was not a good fit here, he lost the fan base, during his tenure never showed the fans any upward movement, instilled no confidence we were heading in the right direction, etc! Say what you will about WW but he had the fans behind him & made us feel like we were building something! We had seen enough with McMann, wish him luck but it was time for him to go!

Well said. Some people can’t separate the person from the job. At the time, it was a good hire on paper. Him and Golden were big names. He went 31-3 (without Ja for the ones too lazy to research). The guy did a helluva job at Murray. He didn’t here. He will land on his feet somewhere, and it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if he won again at a mid-major. I wish him the best, but it was time to move on.

I don't know CMM, but I hear lots of people say he is a good man, and he certainly comes across that way. He did badly at LSU, but I disagree that he is a terrible coach. He had great success as a coach at the mid-major level, so he isn't terrible, but people want everything to be binary. Just because he isn't a great coach, doesn't mean he is terrible. There were many reasons that led to his poor performance, and changing coaches was justified based on performance. I didn't think we would pay the price, and I still think that if CMM were given a huge budget, then he would succeed, but I understand the apathy, and there is no doubt that changing coaches adds a lot of excitement. I suspect that CMM will have to rebuild his reputation, but I think he is better than his results at LSU, and I wouldn't be surprised to see CMM have success some day at another power conference team. I'll be pulling for him.

Ja Morant wasn't on the 31-3 team. Ja played 17-18 and 18-19 seasons. Murray St went 31-1 in 19-20.

That is 100% on him. He’s had PLENTY of support. He’s just terrible

It's definitely a % on him but if what I heard is true it's not 100%. He couldn't win certain recruiting battles because he didn't have the financial support that other teams had.

He's a mid-major coach that will excel in that league. They should welcome him back with opened arms.

He was dealt a very bad hand with the NCAA briefing down our neck as a punishment for not firing Wade. But even after this cloud went away, he was never able to get anything going, while schools like Vandy and Mizzou showed massive improvements from being terrible despite not having our resources.

He wasn't forced to take the job, and he knew what he was stepping into. While it initially seemed unprecedented that an entire roster would (potentially) transfer out and a monumental task to overcome, ANYONE who paid attention to basketball as a whole beyond LSU quickly realized the circumstances were not all that unique in this changing era of college sports. In fact, McMahon signed a top 20 rated class that year. One that on face value, with McMahon having never coached a game at LSU, was thought to be good enough to finish at least in the middle of the SEC by everyone who covered college basketball outside of LSU. He didn't. He finished last and looked totally overmatched by the other coaches. Something that was a constant throughout his career.

He had an opportunity, but he simply wasn't cut out for this level of competition and off the court
