re: Curiel batting #7 and taking ABs away from him doesn't make sense.

Doesn’t Brown crush lefties?
No. That’s why he’s not in the lineup.

Gotcha. I knew it was one or the other

One run homer vs a 3 run homer. It's not always about where you hit. Sometimes it's about who hits in front and behind you.

If he were hitting 8th, it would have been a grand slam.
Jay should be fired.

He did get the hr but could have done the same thing leading off when Pearson couldn't do anything in the inning before with runners on. Walks killed WVU. I didn't expect their ace to be walking us. We all will take it tho.
Leaving Jones and Hernandez down in the order is automatic more fastballs. Moving them back up will keep getting the steady diet of off speed. I said earlier in another thread. We have Brassie following Curiel. Just weird.

I thought the same thing. I truly don’t understand messing with the order so much. If it ain’t broke…

Pearson grounded into a fielders choice after stanfield got on base previously. So in your example, it’s not a 1 run homer vs a three it’s a 2 run homer vs a 3. No doubt the situation worked out for Johnson here but that part is purely luck based on who got on in a certain scenario. What you do control is getting more at bats for your better hitters. But if you want to make the comparison at least state the facts accurately.

It does when he’s hitting under .225 vs lefties and Pearson is hitting over .300. Even more so when the starter typically throws 100-120 pitches in a game.
Great that he took one yard, but Pearson produces more vs lefties. It’s all about winning 2 games now. He’ll be in the leadoff spot tomorrow with a righty starting.

Absolutely, esp for Pearson who never comes through
