Needs to be 3-4 super conferences that all play. Every week is a good game. Screw this waiting two weeks to redeem yourself from a loss.

Nobody wants to see LSU scrimmage Grambling.

Might have been nice to scrimmage Grambling BEFORE playing FSU

Been saying for YEARS that we need to have 4 big superconferences that are there own thing and only play each other.

The four conference champs have a 4 team playoff.

Why? Why not play a team with a pulse?

After last weeks game we need a slump buster and some positive energy. I’m thankful to be playing Grambling this week.

It isn't about anything other than money at this point. We made money playing this two game series with FSU, that is why it exists.

This weekend, we will pay money to get our bearings straight.

After that, the normal money comes into play with the SEC schedule.

Play 10 regular season games per year. Two bye dates.

9 conference games

1 out of conference

So only 4 out of about 65 teams make the playoff?

What if there’s a tie? Surely all teams in a 16-20 team conference can’t all play each other round robin

I think EVERYONE will take Grambling over another P5 right now after Sunday. I get your point, but good lord, do we need a poopoo game.

Nope. Believe it or not these games have value. Helps make the product better later in the season and get some more confidence.
Pays for these smaller schools entire season budget.
Younger guys get some experience and some shine.

You can’t expect 12 straight power 5 games.

Edit: I like how we have been scheduling these as well. Southern , Grambling… should be all smaller Louisiana schools if we go below G5 level.

Playing Grambling is actually more embarrassing for the LSU football program than getting blown out on national tv by FSU

Yeah I'd like to see mostly conference games too. I'd be happy with an in-state cupcake for an opener or homecoming type game. So 2 max a year...

But I have zero interest in watching LSU play some directional school from another state such as Georgia State this year.

SEC schools have a more talented fourth string than Grambling’s starters

that's where we're headed, with the big conferences now super-conferences. Time for the Sun Belt, American, Mountain West, etc. to be in a lower division.

4 is too few teams for a playoff. Needs to be 8 or 10.

This assumes that every team in the 4 super conferences are good. There will always be terrible teams playing great teams no matter how you divide conferences.

funny how FSU didn't need a cupcake game before destroying us.

Coaches have all of spring and fall camp to assess their team's strengths and weakness and scheme accordingly.

Doing it on the fly during the regular season isn't what a $100 million coach is paid for. Now sure, if a team is hit by suspensions, injuries, etc. then that has to be dealt with during the season.

But game 1, when we've had so much time to prepare? No, we should've hit the ground running, like FSU did.
