Brett Farve did not have the "ability" to be a college QB according to analysts.
you do realize that Rice and Favre also had the same analysis done by CFB coaches also, right?
that's why favre went to USM as a SS and rice went to a 1-AA school. it takes a lot of coaches (not analysts) being very wrong for that to happen

I tend to put more trust in Les Miles rather than Craig James!
If we lose a game, and Hatch is the quarterback, don't start quoting Craig James and saying I told you so. ;)

Considering he is 22 years old I would say maturity plays a huge part until Lee gets some reps under his belt.
Would a mature QB...
A) Take a delay of game penalty inside his 10 yard line?
B) Hold the ball too long in the endzone and take a safety?
C) Be unsure of his reads?
D) Look jittery and anxious to run while in the pocket?
E) Pitch behind the RB on an option leading to a turnover?

the bottom line is, Lee has missed some practices, and we have three home games in a row that can be won easily by running backs, fullbacks, the D, the O line, some option play and Colt David.
So, it's basically a three-week/three-game try-out period for starter.
What's the big fuss?

Ok, and from ALL of that long posts you made, you never once mentioned the decision making of the 2 QBs.
exactly. the advantage isnt known so give me the more talented qb. i am glad these next 3 games are kind of like a try out and its not set in stone yet

Craig James is the worst and I mean it, the WORST "analyst" for college football on tv
even worse than Lou "Notre Dame is going to a BCS game this year" Holtz??

By you. I'm sure that the coaching staff has a pretty good idea and a plan to go with it.

yea---and there strategy is to start hatch and keep it an open competition. and they r doing that for a reason. b/c they know theres a good chance lee will overtake hatch. if he does then they know they will have a more talented qb to work with. if u dont agree that lee should be the guy, just say so. dont be a choad

But it is probably known by the coaches who practice these guys day in and day out for quite a while now.
It's just not known by us.

The last time I saw Craig in person, it was the opening game for SMU in 2002. I had a bench pass on the field. Also on the field was the rest of the Pony Express ( Eric Dickerson ) and Roger Staubach ( He did the coin toss for Navy ). Jet flyovers, fireworks at Gerald J. Ford Stadium, not a bad day.
As for Craig James, he must know more than a guy that:
has been a Offensive Coordinator, Quarterback Coach, Head Coach and Passing Game Coordinator.
has stops at Oregon, BYU, Chicago Bears, Louisiana Tech, Georgia Tech, Boston College and New Hampshire.
A year ago, as OC had the LSU offense set 10 school records, including points in a season (541), points per game (38.6) and touchdowns scored (64), on its way to posting a 12-2 overall mark. Other single-season school records set in 2007 include rushing TDs (35), passes attempted (442), passes completed (256), total yards (6,152), total plays (1,054) and first downs (316). LSU also scored at least 40 points a school-record seven times in 2007.*
*The Tigers enjoyed all of their offensive success in 2007 employing a balanced attack, one that had LSU averaging 214.1 rushing yards per game and another 225.3 passing yards a contest. The Tigers also put up their record-setting numbers with a running back-by-committee approach for most of the year, with a first-time starting quarterback in Matt Flynn, who was hobbled for several games with an ankle injury and missed the SEC Championship Game altogether with a shoulder injury, and perhaps the most explosive player on the team in wideout Early Doucet missing five games with a groin injury.
A coach hired by the Bears:
Jauron wasted no time in assembling his coaching staff, and made waves by naming Gary Crowton, his new offensive coordinator. This move was significant in that Crowton employed a wide-open offensive scheme, using the shotgun on first and second downs, 5 receivers, three tight ends, anything to try to create mismatches on the defense. It would be the first time the NFL would see such a wide-open offensive scheme, and many questioned Crowton's razzle-dazzle offense at the pro level.
In his first year with the Bears in 1999, Crowton’s offense ranked No. 3 in the NFL in passing with an average of 258.5 yards per game. That year, the Bears established a franchise record with 4,136 passing yards behind a trio of quarterbacks.
Why not question a guy that has sent seven quarterbacks into the NFL Draft.
Guess I'll stay with the Wiz on this one.

"He might be right. Just because they are our coaches (whom i believe to be great coaches) doesn't mean they make mistakes on talent evaluations from time to time (they are humans and are not perfect). For instance i think that McCray is over matched as a nickle back and think that one of the back up corners should take that spot."
It's better to be silent and thought a dummy then open your mouth and remove all doubt.

I would also add that just because Hatch gets the first snap Saturday, it doesn't necessarily mean the staff expects him to start all year.
Exactly. I've heard that the coaches are really more impressed w/Lee than they are letting on. They'll "offically" give Hatch the starting nod, but that doesn't really mean anything. The ultimate starter will be decided on the field.
Posted on 8/29/08 at 8:12 am to Summer Grove Tiger
Bottom line is that Hatch or Lee will emerge as the starter over the next few games. Hopefully both will do well so that we have two capable QBs and the team will be able to move the ball well with either. I don't know why people think that they have to take sides on Hatch or Lee, especially at this point since none of us know which one is the better QB. Just let things unfold and support both guys. Both are Tigers and we need both guys to do their best.
