I feel like Angel Reese will come back or retire from basketball. With NIL college brings more to basketball than the WNBA. Honestly think Caitlin Clark is going to stay too.

Unless you have some source for this, that’s a sorry thing to say. Why single her out? I think I know the answer.

She said is directly on her social media during her live talking about LSU/School/Post Grad life. She said she loved LSU, the school culture. Was excited to eventually move on from school aspect and concentrate on life after it in basketball/modeling/other goals. That is not an unusual take for any athlete. Being committed to sports and school is a lot for all of them to balance, as well as commitments beyond that.

I'm not sure what you are trying to imply.

She graduates in May.

Pretty sure HVL can’t come back, I believe this is her last year of eligibility.

Why anyone woman playing for a school like LSU with its passionate fans and NIL money would go pro before they have to is a mystery. I guess if they hate school, maybe.

The facilities, money, and crowds for the WNBA pale in comparison.

This is her fourth year in college, she still has her COVID year (if she wants it)

She graduated from Louisville one year early from taking lots of summer courses her first 2-3 years.

Yea...........................not really. Angel only has one year of eligibility left. Why stay at LSU for that one extra year? She'll have the same exact endorsements in her rookie season, that she'd have in a final year of college. Unless she just loves college, leaving here after her fourth year is a no brainer. Not only will she have her endorsements AND her rookie salary, she can also go overseas and play for even MORE money.

Because she is having the time of her life and once she goes pro, she’ll never get this back.

Who knows? I gave my opinion above. And whether this team repeats as NCs this season may play a part. If we fall short, it’s plausible that AR and HVL rally around a “we’ve got unfinished business” mindset and return. Though I doubt that would motivate Angel that much since she already has a ring.

I am sure that Angel is working on her brand where those endorsements will follow when she “retires” from LSU much like Shaq is an influencer post-NBA.

………wait ……..we are comparing Angel Reese to effing Shaquille O’Neal now? Angel will not have 1/100th of Shaq’s endorsements money coming in once she leaves LsU. And I love Angel and what she did for the Brand last year. But Shaq? He is possibly the most endorsed athlete out there right now.

Goddamn, some people’s lack of reading comprehension is astounding. Return to my post. Read slowly and carefully. Did I say anywhere in there that her endorsement money was equal to Shaq’s? I said that her endorsement money—which is certainly not peanuts—will most likely follow her post-LSU and will not depend on her playing in the WNBA just as Shaq is still a powerful endorsement machine while retired.

No, she doesn’t make near what Shaq makes in endorsements but around a million or so a year is nothing to sneeze at, is it? And that money would follow her and likely multiply in her post-LSU career as a model, social media influencer, etc. Whether she plays in the WNBA is irrelevant.

All of which is why I doubt she returns to LSU in 2024-25.

Hailey is working on her Masters Degree after graduating from Louisville in 3 years. But women & male ball players are not limited to the 2 pro leagues here. With the exception of Russia now, there are teams all over Europe & the female teams nominally pay more than the WNBA. Last I read Hailey's NIL value was approximately $500,000. What quality team would they be returning to?

The WNBA isn't worth Angel's time. I bet she's done with basketball after LSU

Angel needs a degree. She has a ton of money to manage and needs to learn how to manage it.

How can a degree help with that?

I'm a follower - I just go with what Shaq recommends.

Seriously though - a poster below, says that she's graduating soon. Great!

Definitely. I heard Angel say as much in interview (or chat?). Basically, if they repeat, she's gone. If the wnba doesn't work out, she said she'd like to explore modeling. If LSU doesn't reeat, I expect her back.

HVL is the hardest to figure out. She doesn't give many interviews or live stream/social media chats. She'd obviously be better served to come back for Year 2 in the Mulkey mentorship, both as a PG & as a prospect, but she has been stating openly that her primary goal is to get to the wnba. She's the one I could see not being patient and dismissing projections out of the Top 10 due to overconfidence in her abilities.
