And this is the crux of all this from our side I believe. Lane said it himself, the SEC can't pick and choose which orders to follow and which to not. They are going to have to blanketly make any kid not eligible under the 5 for 5 rule ineligible this season. Or figure out through the courts that they dont have the power they think they do. If a judge can rule the NCAA nor SEC can punish Chambliss or Ole Miss then these kids will get a judge to do the same. So essentially making all this outrage moot.

No, because the preliminary injunction prohibits that for the time it is in place, so you can't apply it retroactively.

There is an argument for that, but not between the Chambliss case and this one. The TRO does not restrain the SEC, only the NCAA. The preliminary injunction did.
When this one is heard on the 31st, if an injunction is issued, I suspect it will tie the hands of both the NCAA and the SEC.
However, if the Universities have agreed not to accept transfers who meet the criteria listed in the prohibitions, I do not know how the judge can do anything about that.

I hope we get our DT and TE and I hope we beat UM with their best players on the field. Time to play football and not lawyer. This time last year, Chambliss was a sub. You never know what you are going to get if Chambliss doesn't play. Deuce Knight was pretty highly rated out of high school At least Lane knows Chambliss' every tendency. Quit obsessing about Chambliss.

Not a lawyer, but wouldn't that be an anti trust issue? The same reason nfl has a cba, or the draft would be illegal. Multiple entities colluding to prevent earnings by someone?

Not if just the SEC schools are doing it. They aren't preventing them from going anywhere, just their schools.

Maybe that’s where this gets lost in the weeds. Regardless of why, those players are ruled ineligible to play. Correct? So at the end of the day, them being in the nfl prior is the reason they are ineligible however the punishment will be from playing an ineligible player. So how is it different? Chamblis was ruled ineligible by the NCAA twice and got a MS court to say not so fast and can play. Season will be long over by the time it goes to Court. So if he looses, nothing happens. How can the SEC be dead set and no games here but ignore that. At the end, it’s playing ineligible players that were deemed as such by the league rules.

Professional athletes coming back to college and players gambling on games are totally different from seeking an extra year bc of a medical condition.

The sec rule should be if the NCAA says someone is ineligible then the conference can’t allow them to play.
That gets rid of Trinidad, Sorsby etc etc and the list is long.
Right now they are picking winners and losers instead of disqualifying everyone the ncaa says is ineligible.

I agree. However if by doing those things, you become ineligible and if you are used in a game after that ruling, you should be punished. Thays what you are saying? Regardless of the reason on what should or shouldn’t grant you eligibility or make you ineligible, chamblis was/is declared ineligible but the rules stated by the NCAA and SEC. Pretty simple. But he got a TRO and not a peep from the sec about playing an ineligible player. Get off of the reason on why and see it for the facts. They are threatening punishment for one but ignoring another. So now we get to choose which ineligible player did a worse action to make them ineligible ?

It’s not hypocrisy if the reason we wanted him clear was not on merit, but strictly whether or not he was coming to LSU. Everyone was pretty upfront about that. That’s kind of how these fan boards work.

Exactly. People are acting like the two cases are like murder vs shoplifting… neither are a crime. You summed it up perfectly.

Exactly, all the SEC has to do is to support the NCAA ruling and therefore Chambliss would be in ineligible to play and whoever else that applies to as well. Just make it a level playing field and not have double standards and different rulings for different players and different locations and different conferences at different schools. F-I king ridiculous

Pretty sure Lane wants Chambliss on the field in September. Lane is Obi-Wan in this match up. Chambliss will be swinging blind against the Jedi master.
