It's hard to say what Nuss's NFL trajectory could be at this time. He's a bit diminutive and needs physical development. Arguing Nuss will transfer is a futile argument at this point. All that matters is that he's 100% committed to the LSU Program.

You mean the 6' tall WR prospect with the fastest indoor 200M time in the nation this year?

This is a real diplomatic way of putting it.

Glad the selfish ones are getting weeded out.

Sees he's academically ineligible, gets upset puts name in portal. realizes he cant until he gets grades up. Staying on in the spring semester to boost his grades to a satisfactory level so he can transfer elsewhere.

Pure conjecture, but team lets him continue to use facilities in case he decides to stay / gets grades up.

Nuss/Brennan debate for the next 8 months? Can Brennan hold Nuss off the whole year? Nuss could make the jump in year 2. Brennan is QB1 but that could change quicker than later per Jordy.

What is that based on?

They aren’t practicing right now. Nuss couldn’t beat out Johnson last year andni still believe Brennan is better than johnson

Sounds good on the surface, but if he transfers out without being in good academic standing then LSU cannot replenish his roster spot via the transfer portal.

Any word on Fonua? I liked the way he played and definitely can add some more quality depth

Max gave his it factor to Nuss when he left.

Nuss now has the want to roll into blitzes and under throw fades all day.

Brennan has only started three games. How much stats could you spit out?

I agree. The fact that those 3 games was a better start than Burrow's 2019 season start should not count since he got hurt.

see I thought I had heard once you put your name in the portal, the school is no longer obligated to you scholarship wise.

Yeah, Nuss has that "it" factor so much that he was worried about his 5th year of college ball options.

That’s sort of how it works. The exact rule is:
quote:

Institutional financial aid based in any degree on athletics ability may be reduced or canceled during the period of the award or reduced or not renewed for the following academic year or years of the student-athlete's five-year period of eligibility if the recipient:
. . .
(f) Provides written notification of transfer (see Bylaw 13.1.1.3) to the institution; however, the student-athlete’s financial aid may not be reduced or canceled until the end of the regular academic term in which written notification of transfer is received. If a student-athlete provides written notification of transfer to the institution between regular academic terms (winter break, summer break) the institution may reduce or cancel the financial aid immediately.

So basically, the school can’t cancel a scholarship mid-semester but can cancel it for the following semester if a player enters the portal.

But the fact that the school can do this does not necessarily mean they should. The reality is that the cost of a single scholarship for one semester is peanuts to the athletic department. LSU doesn’t really gain anything here by being vindictive.

OTOH, the optics of firing the entire staff that recruited a kid then pulling that kid’s scholarship because he’s considering leaving, potentially derailing his ability to transfer anywhere, are not great. I realize there are many folks who might disagree with this and that’s fine - I just don’t think LSU (or any university) should be petty when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Also if they were going to pull his scholly, the time to do it was a month ago… not after spring classes start.
