The little bit that I see of LSU academics I would say something not great happened in the last 3 years to bring in some very trashy students.

Firing Tate was just stupid. He was an excellent university president.

Seems like a long delay in the meeting. Is Landry weaker than we thought? Does not seem like a slam dunk type of meeting.

He wasn’t fired. He left for Rutgers.

Are kids still getting in without having to take the ACT or SAT?
quote:Somewhere in one of these threads about the state of LSU it was posted that only 47% submitted a test score for the 2024 freshman class.
If so, what % of the student body are these kids?

The enrollment situation is the result of a failure beginning about 10 years ago. Competitors like Arkansas, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Kentucky focused on recruitment from above average kids from nearby high-population states (Texas, Georgia, Tennessee) that were getting delayed/deferred admissions to their in-state schools.
This allowed these schools to remain financially strong. LSU and King Alexander got caught behind the curve here so threw most of their recruitment efforts at Online and Pell Grant students.
Tate kept it in place since revenue was solid and put his efforts towards research growth.
