I guess we have to ask how much input Dalton will have on the AD selection?

It’s been discussed for a while now. Tate even moved his office from the system building to Boyd Hall.

Good to know. Just wanted to make sure we don’t have someone with true insider knowledge around here to pay attention to.

Remind me why I should be excited about Dalton as chancellor? (Honest question. I'm out of the loop)

Seems like a long delay in the meeting. Is Landry weaker than we thought? Does not seem like a slam dunk type of meeting.

They just wanted a catered lunch.

Based on Rousse’ breakdown of responsibilities -none, athletics rolls up to system president.

Honestly this could be a really good path forward, the two seem unified, sounds like the students will be appreciative of this approach.

Test optional started in 2020.
yeah, I get it that COVID complicated things for the kids graduating high school in 2021, who would have been taking the test during the height of COVID...but there is no way kids graduating in 2024 and 2025 (or even 2023) from high school should have been exempt from taking the test...that is on Tate.

I hope Rousse is successful, but this is such a fricking joke. Would anyone here hire a drywall contractor to renovate their entire kitchen?

So Rousse is over the LSU System.

And Dalton is over LSU, Pennington, and LSU Health Center.

Thrown in is that for reporting purposes they are combining LSU, LSUHSC, and Pennington as a unified system under Dalton as VP and Chancellor.

This should provide an immediate boost in LSU's national rankings as these were previously separate entities.

Finally getting caught up on the meeting.

Felt like a bro fest at the end there.

I wish them all luck in their future endeavors. Dalton seems impressive and it sounds like this new structure will benefit the LSU system all around.

I will repeat what I said earlier and expand. Why did these students not put forth the effort to at least look semi-presentable when going in front of the board and being at this meeting. I'm not saying they had to wear a suit and tie, but a polo shirt at minimum would have been decent. Not wearing beanies and ballcaps.

Rousse isn't handing research or academics.

Rousse:

quote:

To give a rough outline. External affairs, government affairs, and athletics will report to the president. All of the scholarship enterprises will report to an amazing scholar who I am truly honored who has decided to join this team as we elevate this LSU system to world class levels.

eta: Dalton seems thrilled to be on board.

James Dalton will take over leadership of the Baton Rouge campus, the Ag Center, the two Health Science centers, and Pennington Biomedical Reseach Center.

Wade Rousse will oversee the entire LSU system.

So is this good or bad for the university and the Athletic Dept? And this would mean we're likely getting the McNeese AD, right?

[Yes, I'm being a little lazy. But my cursory search here and googling yielded only sky-screaming type reactions.]

This is the board‘s way of appeasing the governor, but putting the guy they really wanted in charge of the primary campuses
