Why did Aranda want to have separate DB coaches
S coach in Busch
and CB coach in Raymond
I know he handled LB's

Would it make more sense to have one DB coach?

Weak against modern offenses and not how our roster is built currently.

For those of you doubting this hire and are too young to remember - Pelini’s defenses are the standard that LSU fans think of when we think what our defensive reputation is. They were smothering, attacking, dominating defenses. This is a great hire I think.

That’s because you don’t runs base 4-3 against the spread... we will have nickel, dime, and odd fronts with our personnel 80% of the time anyway. Best news of all of this? We now have the players to run a variety of schemes and fronts to give offenses fits

I mean, do they not scheme and running spread offenses in FCS?

I would say that they do it more. In fact, while we talk about how much Brady brought from the Saints, the fact is that he actually brought a lot of those concepts with him from William & Mary.

Pelini's multi-year deal will pay him around $2M a year.

Wow. I don't agree with paying him this much to start.

I'm really curious how many candidates were considered if Pelini was the best of the bunch.

Much like E, it's another hire that would only happen under O.

And O's decisions have sucked so bad.

I learned my lesson when I melted over Coach O getting the job. I’m gonna stay positive about Pelini. His track record as a defensive coordinator is fantastic and was good enough to get him the head coaching job at Nebraska.

Based on recent contracts, LSU seems to be throwing too much money at just about everyone

This is becoming a trend with Woodward. This is what we wanted though. It’s risky, but at least they’re not afraid to open up the checkbook to get who they want. Hopefully the contract is balanced.

For now, O has earned our trust + this is his hire so I’m not going to dog it unless/until I’m given a reason to.
