He’s 52.

Still young in coaching circles.

That dinosaur has forgot more about football than you will ever know

Age has nothing to do with it, if it did then Saban would have been getting waxed every week for the past years. Saban is 68 and Bo is only 52

Yep, that's a positive in regards to this hire. Odds of him leaving for a HC spot are lower, odds of him sticking around (as long as he delivers) better, than with a defensive coach w/ HC (or NFL) aspirations.

Also, it's always good to add coaches with HC experience, IMO. Here's to hoping it all works out for the best.

people who are so happy to be back to Bo and the 4-3 to get more pressure please read below:

Sacks Under Bo:
2006: 39
2007: 37
2008: 28

Sacks under Aranda:
2016:36
2017:39
2018:34
2019:37

so... where are you getting this false hope from? Just curious. and Aranda's defense wasnt really about rushing the passer. so what does that say about Bo's?

37 Seems to be the perfect amount of sacks.

What is Venable's record vs LSU in Championship Games?

Maleveto could probably coach defenses in the ACC.

I think it's a good hire. Most of his teams at Nebraska and LSU had highly ranked defenses.

Not saying Bo is a bad hire, he did well in his previous time here, but you might want to review the scores his Nebraska's defenses 2008-2014 allowed during his years there. Other than one or two seasons, it wasn't much to brag about. You saw how people were calling for Aranda's job midway through this season. Compared to Bo's defenses, Aranda didn't do bad.

Pelini was at LSU from 2005-2007.

The 2008 D was the Malveto Co-coordinator D that Les replaced Bo with.

If he can bring a controlled passion to this defense. We will be fine. Not many teams in the country heve the talent and depth LSU has. Bo will be fine.

In the SEC particularly, the frequency of passing downs has gone up materially in the last decade. That plays a direct role in the opportunity for sacks.
Pelini's oveall defensive rankings at Okie, LSU and Nebraska were always very good.

Do you have good insight as to whether that was primarily personnel or scheme issues?

He has won a NC at LSU. This right here is the exact reason LSU fans are made fun of. Please don’t engage in conversations and make comments in public when you don’t know a thing about what you speak of. DUMBASS!

I feel like the guy is very talented and experienced but moreso he is hungry and knows that window to achieve his highest goals closes more each year.

He’s going to be great.

What’s the percentage difference in pass to run of the opponent between Bo’s time Versus Aranda’s? Seems more passing is going on now which means more chances for sacks.

Take a look at the current defense coordinator under Saban.

In case anyone wanted to consider a good set of expectations for Bo, here are Aranda's national rankings in various defensive metrics.

I'm thinking maintaining the green and yellow averages and improving the red would be a good baseline. Certainly I'd like to see the occasional year of meeting or beating Aranda's green in any given year.

we ridin, all you negatigers stop bitching, In O I trust, hasn't he earned that. Bo will bring the fire out of these kids, keep them hungry, and consistently bring the heat . LSU will finally have the defense Coach O has wanted.

In the words of Coach O, "We Comin'"
