It’s that time of the year. 74 years old Tiger fan. Remember this like it was yesterday. I live in Brusly. Right across the river. Standing on my driveway with listening on the radio. Can one of you young guys find it on Utube and play it?
Thanks.

At 74, you might want to go get checked out at a doctor.
It's after Thanksgiving, and Cannon's punt return was on Halloween.

It was my first LSU game, and my dad, who had a ticket for himself, made over 150 phone calls getting tickets for mom & I late in the day.

It would be great if they could use AI or whatever to clean up the video and the audio. It's so annoyingly fleeting!

. That’s a cool memory! Just out of curiosity do you recall what he paid for the tickets?

All Holidays run together at 74.

Shite they do now in my 40’s.

*That run is one of the most incredible runs in college History not just LSU’s history.
That Black and White video and the ensuing TD gives me chill’s every time.

It's almost a month late for an anniversary, but it is always great to relive that play. I was student at LSU along with Cannon at the time. Was married with a 10 month old son.

My mom and dad came down for the day and we all went to the game, but could not sit in our usual student section seats because of mom/dad with us.

Bought separate tickets and all sat in north end zone - directly in line with his south/north run.

The stadium went wild - a drunk came tumbling down the aisle we were sitting next to and got up seemingly uninjured - ran right back to the top.

Indeed, Ol Miss punted on 3rd down to avoid a possible problem on 4th.

After the Cannon TD, they marched right down the field to get within our 5 yard line. 4 plays and they could not make it.

Cannon was in on the last play stopping runner inside the one yd line.

Unbelievable excitement prevailed.

My high school principal was one of the defenders he juked.

The man liked to point out the 21-0 drumming in the bowl game at their hands, be he acknowledged what a tremendous play that was and it gave LSU national attention as that was one of the first CFB highlight reels, and was played in movie theaters, nationally, during the “news” that ran before the film.

Here's another link, with audio including some additional video and game commentary, highlighting the Billy Cannon Run October 31, 1959 punt return.

It would be really cool if technology we have would make that in color. I know it can be done. That would be cool as hell. Film colorization.

I thought of that just the other day when the discussion about whether JD and Malik would play or sit out for the NFL trial.

I began to wonder if Cannon and some of the others promised to 'not take a chance on getting injured' to the AFL agents - cause he signed with the AFL immediately after the game - "under the goalposts" I think they said.

That was one hell of a team Ol Miss had - they hammered us good during our win - and embarrassed us in the bowl game.

Still fondly recall the "halloween run" tho -

How far do you live from the Back Brusly oak? I had a girlfriend who lived on a street to the right of the tree.

Yeah guys. I do suffer from a little CRS but I went to LSU at a great time to be an LSU student. I was at LSU when this skinny mop head white guy and his Dad came to LSU. Yes the Pistol. Even had a class with Pete. Father Time has worked on me and I have some health issues but I’ll keep watching and cheering all LSU sports and athletes as long as I keep waking up on the right side of the dirt. Lol

There was a large painting of that stop in the old Belmont Hotel, which is where most visiting teams stayed back in the day.
