LSU, Ohio State, and Florida State are all tied at 4. Only Alabama has recruited better ranking wise than LSU in the entire country. Its pretty shocking that LSU is this much of an underdog given the talent it has on its team. I mean people are comparing this to 93'. In 93 the program then is not even close to what the program is now.

No one. I MEAN NO ONE is thinking this game will even be close. To me stuff is not adding up. I dont think we will win but to say we have no chance doesnt smell right to me. (Yes I know we lost to Troy)

LSU was better in 2011 and 2012 and lost IMO. The best team on any given night does not always win this game.

The game will come down to how well the offensive line plays.

And FSU is a dumpster fire, so I'm not sure these rankings hold their weight.

They are now. They were not when they had Francois. The team quit when they lost him.

LSU has been trending up with freshman gaining experience and our best players getting healthy.

Your own post should tell you that Alabama's recruiting has been unbelievably good.

Like Lance Armstrong 's 7 Tours or Bernie Madoff's incredible market returns. Bama has been on that level of success in recruiting.

Osborne, Johnson, Switzer, Bowden, Bryant Freeze. Literally no one has done it better than Saban. And it's not even close.

They have a lot more talent than we do. Just check 247's team talent. 247 Team Talent

Alabama has 18 5 star players...we have 4.

The ranking might seem close, but when you dig deeper this is what happens when a school gets like 8 straight #1 classes. They have a chokehold on basically everyone talent wise right now.

Not even #2 and #3?

Coincidentally Troy has 18 3 star players.

Class rankings aren’t far apart. But Bama does a much better job at keeping 4 and 5 year players. LSU loses underclassmen to the nfl every year. LSU also seems to loses a few to transfers each year.

And our 4 are:
Kristian Fulton - Hardly plays
Rashard Lawrence - Beast but has been injured
Jacoby Stevens - Freshman who's been thrown around to like 4 different positions in a couple months.
Kevin Toliver - Solid starting Corner.

We've had a lot of turnover and a few busts. We may have an edge at the skill positions but they are loaded on the trenches and have a definitive talent edge there. Our O and D lines just need to give the skill players a chance to make plays and we have a chance. If they dominate up front it'll be a long night.

That may be a bit misleading considering the rash of transfers we've had. 5 star guys like Teheuma, Saivion Smith, etc aren't here anymore.

Does Bama really keep more guys for 4-5 years or do they just have more talent to plug in the holes from NFL early departures?

Recruiting rankings just look at the star rankings of the players who sign. It doesn’t actually factor in filling specific needs. LSU gets some great athletes but recently hasn’t had much success getting linemen.

Bama has recruited, not only 5 & 4 star players, but the #1 thru #8 players by position. They have landed in several two of the top 5 position players, such as OT, OG, DE, DT, LB. They have out recruited everyone and it's not just star ratings.

I think it has to do with coaching not talent

This isn't really true. Those guys just aren't here anymore.

\Average recruiting ranking the past 4 years: Alabama-1 LSU-4

LSU has recruited well but has not retained many of these star recruits due transfers, trouble, grades and the NFL draft.

Our overall ranking has dropped a significant amount due to the above

first, recruiting rankings are subjective. they don't factor in psyche, rivalries, team chemistry, season fatigue, etc.

second, the superior team does not win every week. they're called upsets and they happen every week of every season. even bama is not immune to that.
