re: Any chance LSU brings back Archer and/or DiNardo at a game? If so who gets louder applause

Mike Archer was well like by both his team , the admin and fans. He was just too young for the job. LSU hired him at 32/33 after being a DC to a defensive genius (Arnsbarger). Due to prop 48 and Louisiana’s horrible high school academics he had to recruit more out of state kids. Unfortunately many didn’t stay or pan out. The guys continued to coach at an extremely high level on the defensive side for almost 30 years after being fired from LSU. He had two great seasons , both were as good or better in my opinion than Cholly Mac’s two best seasons. Also, he is an all around good man. He doesn’t deserve a statute or plaque , but he should be honored for 87 and 88.

I could be crazy but I thought LSU brought back all living former coaches except for Hallman and Saban in 2018 for the 125 yr celebration.

Archer is/was a nice guy. DiNardo was a prick.

Dinardo. Both had some great moments in those lean decades. The difference is DiNardo left LSU better than he found us. Archer left the program a mess.

Also his recruits made up the core of the 2001 sec championship team. It was Saban’s team but Dinardo left him with plenty of talent.

Can we bring back Tepper? Quincy Carter hasn't completed 20 consecutive passes in 2+ decades now.

But, will they be masked?
Asking for a COVID-19 psycho friend.

Dinardo would get the louder applause. Neither will be brought back unless it's a game anniversary

You think Les gets snubbed in 2027 for the 20-year anniversary?
Absolutely. It will be too close to this time of title IX stuff

May be an unpopular opinion, but DiNardo started the program on the road back to success. As I recall, he stemmed the flow of LA talent going out of state. And signing Faulk was a huge deal.

I'm not sure either has to be honored, frankly.
DiNardo was the better head coach by far. Archer never got another head coaching job. He was a career assistant and LSU should have kept it that way (He had Arnsparger's recommendation, right?).
I remember reading that the Univ of Miami coaches who worked with him and followed Jimmy Johnson to the Dallas Cowboys were stunned that somebody thought Archer could be a good head coach.
DiNardo may have been an odd cultural fit in Baton Rouge, but people say he was OK to deal with and he still talks fondly about LSU.
Don't forget another thing: DiNardo saw the value in the 1995 Independence Bowl and had the team practice at the Shreveport high schools, and it turned into a weeklong lovefest, a significant event in turning the entire state into LSU fans. That impressed one guy, at least -- the coach on the other sideline for that game, Michigan State coach Nick Saban.

I trying to think of another company that fired their CEO, only to bring him back to recognize him for getting fired

Must've missed Dinardo's players shitting on him last year. Booger literally called him a piece of shite on Russilo's pod.

I can see Archer on an anniversary of his SEC championship.

LSU won one bowl game between 1973-1994, one and it was Archer
I believe we won the Tangerine bowl under Cholly Mac in his last game.

LSU beat Wake Forest in '79 in Mac's last game in The Tangerine Bowl.

I think Dinardo is still bitter about the end of his tenure here and wouldn’t accept an invitation.
