Any chance LSU brings back Archer and/or DiNardo at a game? If so who gets louder applause

I'm not Nostradamus but I assume Les and Curly never get honored at Tiger Stadium going forward, so who would be better received, Archer or DiNardo?

For those of you too young, a few notes

DiNardo- Pro's
Came in after 6 losing season in a row took us to 3 straight bowl game wins and 1st ever win of #1 in 97 UF
Recruited LA starting with Kevin Faulk ending with Bradie James, Trev Faulk etc
Got the new suites and East side built (opened in 2000)

Cons
Lost team after upset #1 UF
Brought in Tepper as DC leading to two bad seasons
Recruiting fell off and he became very angry at end

Mike Archer Pros
Led team to two great season in 87 and 88,
SEC title in 88 was only 2nd in 18 years
Got first indoor facility built

Cons
Two very bad years to end, even when Hodson was a Senior
Lost the boosters and National recruits backfired
His Youth showed when he started losing, although he went on to be a very well respected DC

Archer was a bad evaluator/recruiter from what I remember. He coaches well with the talent he was left then the talent really dropped off under his watch. I remember being in 8th grade and LSU coaches were at my school recruiting a really large O-lineman who had no business playing college ball, and ultimately didn’t. I remember thinking at the time that things were bad.

really, saw Archer in Canton at Kevin M induction, team loved him, went on to great career as dc, nice man. DiNardo will 100% be in Canton for his guy this year

DiNardo is very well respected B10 announcer and has openly said he enjoyed his time at LSU. BOTH did some great things, for those of us fans from 1974-1999 were VERY lean years other than those two and 4 good season combined from Stovall and Bill A, in other words over those 26 years they produced 5 of the best 8 seasons....LSU won one bowl game between 1973-1994, one and it was Archer

I think both should be honored, why not?

I remember the DiNardo so I'd cheer louder for him. He fell off at the end without a doubt but it was fun during his first few seasons.

I believe he was responsible for NCAA approving exception for LSU having to wear dark (purple) jerseys at home games. Allowed the white jerseys provided visitors approved. In effect visitors wore their home dark jerseys.

LSU Alumni brought Gerry to NYC for a meet and greet at a place called Brother Jimmy's. He wasn't very social and had trouble with the crawfish. LSU staffer ran over and said Coach let me help you. Was hanging in the corner when I approached and spoke for 10 minutes or so. He was from Brooklyn and played for Notre Dame

You think Les gets snubbed in 2027 for the 20-year anniversary?

South Carolina and the "Black Death" defense. Hodson lit them up.

Kind of crazy that Les won’t get honored considering the success he had.

If the Red Sox snub Curt Shilling for being conservative what chance to Les have for being a flirty old man?

No issue but Archer won with Arnsparger's team And Arnsbarger won with Stoval's Team, Hilliard, James, Martin etc, etc...

Brother Jimmy’s Bait Shack! I was living in NYC at that time. That place was a Godsend for fans there who wanted to watch LSU football games. You needed a satellite to catch most of them back then.

They would both probably get a smattering of applause.

I think “Smattering” is the correct amount.

More if they do like a anniversary of the win over Florida (kinda lame but a significant moment) or the 87 championships team.

Not likely. The only thing of note that either one accomplished was Archer's 1988 SEC championship team that went 8-4. That team was already brought back for a curtain call in 2008. Archer was the DC at NC State that season, but they had an open date the week LSU honored the team. I don't recall if Archer was there or what kind of reception he might have gotten.

Here's the plan, Saban retires and after about 5 years they role him out for a Tiger Stadium salute and once at midfield out comes Dinardo for an inpromptu salute and they play highlights of the '95 Independence Bowl.

Everybody wins.
