Horrible take. She’s tenacious and skilled. She hustles. But she’s not invincible.

Better involve a net and rope

I think Poole can do it

Disagree. I say make someone else beat you She has gotten 41 in the last 2 wins
Agree with you 100%.
Clark was the scorer or assisted on almost 80% of their points scored tonight. She can literally just about beat you by herself.

How’d Poole do against her last year. They must have played ac couple of times.

Yep, specifically the pick and roll. They executed it very well in the first half. Pick your poison, pick and roll or make someone besides 22 hit a 3

Believe it or not she will turnover the ball a lot if pressured. She will still score no matter what. We need to capitalize on turnovers and use our smothering defense to prevent the penetration to the basket with the dish off that she does. We smother the lane and let her take her threes but don't let her penetrate and dish. And on offense we need two players out our five to play lights out and get some smatterings of help from the rest. Just. Like. We. Have. Been doing all tourney.

I am halfway expecting her to tell Coach Mulkey exactly where she is about to score from whenever she is near our bench.

Georgia Amoore was shut down (at 3 point line..kept her below her percentage) by Poole. Poole loses her shite every now and then, but people underestimate her because of her size. She can give Clark grief if the refs aren't hard on her physical play.

Random question, but Poole came from Ohio State right? Wouldn’t Poole already have some experience playing against her?

you double team her and make someone else beat you
That said, I think you take that every chance you get. Mainly, bc the girls she was passing to were largely ineffective around the basket. They did do well at the foul line, though.

Need to play her straight-up and stop everyone else. Simple

I would imitate what Iowa did to SC. Leave Iowa’s weakest outside shooter open to double Caitlin and keep someone down low to guard against Caitlin’s passes on the pick and rolls. Then guard Iowa’s 2nd and 3rd best shooters.

I agree. Cover that other sharp shooter Warnock that gets most of her passes from Clark AND stop the big blond center on her pick n rolls to the basket that gets all of her passes from Clark. What they said last night, the big gal had her first ONE DRIBBLE all tournament last night.... WOW

Shes going to get hers. Shes just that good. Its keeping all the other players in check to allow our offense collectively to outscore her. I trust our defense and Mulkey's plan.

Use a combination of these: Keep changing so they cannot figure it out. I would use the following 4-5 defenses, and sprinkle man from them during the same possession at times to totally confuse them. We need to play chess not checkers.
1-1-3 match up zone (But remember man to man principles)
2-1-2 match up zone (But remember man to man principles) as an effective T-Match up zone defense run well will look like a zone with many man to man action, and the low post guy on the right side has a wide variety of responsibility on the whole baseline.
Box & 1
2-2-1
Triangle & 2
Also, when they do go man, play a defender against her who stays on her at all times and does not help out, unless its a potential layup. Also, whoever is the worst player/shooter on Iowa, then play way off that player to help double team Clark or go take a charge of the big blond on the screen n rolls.

Luck? Seriously? It’s not luck at all.
