True fans aren't herded sheep. Firing the most successful coach in LSU history only to hire the least successful coach in Ole Miss history is not something to embrace as a fan.

Plus you have the injury situation to factor in.

Ah! The injury situation. Throwing that out there so it can be a good excuse this coming season once things go south on good ole eddy o.

That excuse is a special breed of stupid right there.

This team will win 7 games and people will look back on the days of 9 and 10 win seasons as the glory days.

I agree.

HOWEVER, it's very possible that 9-4 next year would indicate a nice step forward as compared to last year.

I don't expect it to happen. But we could easily have 8 wins in the regular season and looking much better going into 2019.

Les Miles did not get fired because the program was having losing seasons. Fair or unfair, Ogeron (presumably) was not hired to continue what had become the stauts quo under Les..8-9 wins. If that is the case, then LSU could have saved a lot of dead money by just keeping Les. This wasn't a 2017 Tennessee or Arkansas situation.

Normally 9-4 against LSU's schedule would probably be an ok season. But LSU (again, presumably) did not move on from Les to continue to have "ok" seasons.

Then again, the depths of Alleva's ineptitude never cease to amaze.

So 9-4 means we either lost to all the teams we should have or to a team or two we shouldn’t have lost to.

Right. Or lost the bowl game like last year.

I think 10-2 regular season will be what it takes to get the fans to buy into the program. And honestly I don't think anyone could be disappointed with that outcome if we are competitive in the losses.

Which is exactly the moving goal posts argument.

It's nonsensical to believe a well strategized program direction was to fire an 8-9 win low-mark coach already being paid and replace him with a 8-9 win high-mark coach, along with proposed idea to double down on premium coordinator pay. I mean why pay $12m in salaries when you can pay $18m for same or less results? Oh I know, Alleva.

1. You don’t know who is going to be good or not yet. History proves this.

2. 9-4 tells you nothing without any context. We could lose 4 games by a combined 9 points of we could lose each one by 2 TDs. Certainly you’d come out feeling different from each circumstance

I agree with that.

Teams we should still beat

Ole Miss

Florida
Texas A&M
Miss. St.

Here's where it gets dicey.

Moo State beat us by 30 last season.
Florida has upgraded the HC position, we have to play there for the 2nd straight season, and we stole a road win last year.
A&M just hired Jimbo Fisher, and desperately wants to beat LSU (and we play them on the road).

I just don't see 5-0 in that 2nd group. 3-2 might be the case.

But to blindly say 9-4 is a failure without knowing or considering the particulars of the seaso just isn't smart.

bullshite.
since 2003 4 losses is a failure regardless

there aren't 4 teams on the 2018 schedule that have a significant talent advantage over lsu.

4 loss seasons is what got the last regime fired

but hey go ahead and keep lowering that bar so you never have to hold O accountable.

where is this proven dline you speak of? our returning dlineman with the most sacks is Klavon with 2 sacks, both against Chattanooga.
